Happy with one of GVSU's newest retiree's, Dave Smith! Dave joined the Human Resources team in December 2005 and has been a key leader from the beginning. Throughout his time at the university, Dave has focused on building a culture of wellness throughout the GVSU community, and managing the university’s comprehensive benefits programs.
Over the years, Dave says the most valuable lesson he’s learned is to always be as transparent as possible. “Team members and business partners want to know and understand how you got from point A to point B,” he says. He also believes–regardless of what your role may be–that it’s important to constantly be learning, and to have a strong support system to help guide you in your personal and professional development efforts.
Happy retirement, Dave! We'll miss having you on our team 💙⚓️
Visiting Professor of Geology Hannah Pankratz has found her THRIVE@GVSU wellness coach to be incredibly helpful when transitioning from her life as a Ph.D. student to a healthier work-life balance as a faculty member. She values having a support system that helps her keep her goals in check, saying that “The most helpful aspect is having someone not in my household making sure that I stay on top of what I have originally planned.” Do you want to get started with THRIVE?
