Impactful work by one of our state legislators.
I’m proud to share that another bill I prime-sponsored with some of my colleagues, H.B. 1466, passed the Senate unanimously and is headed to the governor’s desk for his signature. This bill addresses Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation, also known as SLAPP suits. Read this week’s email to learn more:

WOW! So grateful to have so many interested in filling Ian’s seat. It was absolutely wonderful to hear from the applicants at the meeting last night. Hoping that those candidates who were not selected continue to participate in the school community and be engaged with the board, because so many of them were truly incredible people. Thank you to the school board directors for your patient and thoughtful questions and comments to the applicants.
Congratulations to Eugene “Gene” Golson, who was selected by the board to fulfill the two year term. Gene was an educator and principal for more than 30 years in the Philadelphia School District. Gene cares deeply about addressing the achievement gap for black and brown students in the district and increasing equity. We are very lucky to have him as a board director!

Congrats! Love hearing about this scholarship every year.
Congratulations to Senior Cinai Lazarus, this year’s recipient of the Wissahickon Opportunity Scholarship. The scholarship provides one deserving student from WHS a full four-year scholarship to attend Gwynedd Mercy University as an Early Education major and then return to as a K-4 teacher. The scholarship was made possible by a generous gift from an anonymous donor, and funding provided by Gwynedd Mercy University.
"Throughout her tenure at WHS, Cinai has impressed us in her academic rigor, her talents as a student athlete, her personal growth and peer advocacy. Cinai, all of WissNation is incredibly proud of you!” said Dr. Karen Haney, WHS Principal.
Rescheduled!
This election cycle (Nov 7) there are 5 board seats that you can vote for. I am running along with Joe, Paul, Ian and Steve. Learn more at wissstrong2023.com
