EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy
Anyone can experience intense trauma. EMDR is a successful form of treatment to help resolve distress. What is EMDR? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy is a powerful, structural, psychotherapy approach. It includes eight stages of treatment to alleviate the residual pain of trauma, loss and related symptoms. During EMDR therapy, your therapist guides you in identifying a problem or trauma, has you concentrate on it while guiding you to move your eyes rapidly from side to side. EMDR allows you to see the traumatic event or events in a new less distressing way.
What kinds of distress can EMDR treat? Post-traumatic stress, depression, panic attacks, grief, phobias, eating disorders and abuse are some examples.
EMDR therapy helps children and adults of all ages.
