All of our muscles have a max capacity or a "breaking point." And they don't always match. Especially coming back to the barbell after having a baby - now your pelvic floor may not have the same capacity for load as your legs. This feels weird and can be scary but don't panic. Remember that these are just muscles and they have the ability to grow & rebuild. And I'm always here for help if you need it 👏
Quick pelvic floor facts!! Don’t let your pelvic floor symptoms get in the way of your life and freedom to move. You’re old lady self will thank you 🫶🏼

StrongHER Physical Therapy & Performance Pelvic floor physical therapy helping women build strength, resilience, and return to running, jumping, laughing, lifting, playing and working without limits.
Leaking is just ONE sign from your pelvic floor that it may need a little extra TLC.
Weakness is just ONE “issue” that your pelvic floor can have.
The pelvic floor is so complex and therefore a one size fits all answer of “just do kegels” is rarely the right answer.
Maybe it does need a little extra strength after the birth of your new baby or to help support the extra work of pregnancy.
Maybe it actually needs to learn how to relax. A muscle that is too “on” for too long gets cranky and that can lead to pain, leaking, frequency and more!
Or maybe your pelvic floor just needs to a little help re-coordinating and remembering when to contract and when to relax.
As always, these are not issues you need to just deal with 🫶🏼
Diastasis Recti isn’t as scary as the name or the internet makes it sound.
Calling your abs “separated” after a baby can create a lot of fear and mistrust in your body.
As a new mama, I want you to know two things:
First and foremost: your abs are not separated. Period.
Second: Your linea alba stretches during pregnancy and this. is. completely. normal. We can’t expect to grow a human inside our belly and have nothing change. We need more space! And our bodies are smart & resilient and able to stretch and expand. AND RECOVER!
Okay, maybe that was more than two things.
But anyway. My goal is to make new mamas feel strong & confident in their pregnancy & postpartum body.
Because it does amazing things during this season.
Don’t let the internet create a sense of fear or make you think your body is broken.
Muscles can be strengthened post baby - even your abs and pelvic floor.
They can become stronger than they were pre-baby.
