On Sunday 1/3 we will hold a special chanting outdoors in the ice and snow! It will be in honor of Paramahamsa Yogananda-ji's birthday (two days later), and we will meet on the Plum Island Beach Jetty where he sat absorbed in meditation for five hours! Those who wish to stay inside can still attend via the normal link as well. Mark your calendars. ❄️ 🌊

If you are up to the winter adventure, please wear very very warm clothes as we will be exposed to wind. As always come wearing a mask.

This entire year and most of next year we are celebrating 100 years that we have had the teachings of Kriya Yoga and those of the Masters which were brought to the West by Paramahamsa Yoganandaji.

This Saturday, September 19th is a very auspicious day. It marks the 100th anniversary of Paramahamsa Yogananda arriving in the West. He arrived in Boston, on the ship The City of Sparta, to serve as India’s delegate to the sixth International Congress of Religious Liberals. During his more than 30 years in the U.S. he sought to bring unity between science and all religions through the techniques of meditation and the spiritual teachings of the yoga masters that extends back more than 5,000 years.

This weekend was to be the Boston Pilgrimage in which participants were to visit many of the places that Yoganandaji had been. But because of the pandemic the Kriya Yoga Institute along with the Boston center celebrated it today with a small group of 15 Kriyavans.

-> Morning at East Boston Pier where Yoganandaji arrived in the U.S., we celebrated by lighting a lamp, Chanting and Singing followed by a Short Meditation and Discourse by Swami Sahajananda Giri. **Guruji bless us with online presence.

-> Later in the morning at Rolling Ridge Retreat Center in North Andover, MA was commemorative Celebration in honor of Paramahamsa Yogananda, followed by a talk from Yogacharya Suresh Kodolikar on the topic of Self-Realization.

100 Year Anniversary of Paramahamsa Yoganandaji which was scheduled to happen in September 2020 have been cancelled by the center due to current circumstances.

Kriya Yoga includes techniques that are entirely scientific, every step being based upon experimental realization. Yoga and science are inseparable, just as religion and science are necessary complements. The scientist sets the task of controlling the physical forces, whereas yogi is concerned with the mental forces. A scientist is an unconscious yogi whose mind works on external grooves. The yoga philosophy is one the six orthodox Hindu philosophies; it is unlike the innumerable other philosophies of the world, because it is an entirely practical philosophy. It is an exact science based on immutable laws of nature.
