It will be one year ago tomorrow that we were switching to our first virtual Moot Court Society competition. Here we are that one year later, excited to see a lot of new faces as we (hopefully) transition back to in-person competitions in the Fall. 🥰 If after a full year of quarantining/isolating you want a law school experience that lets you work with a team, click on that link!

Moot Court Society offers class credit, social events, paid travel to competitions (when safe to do so), and looks great on a resume (yes you can still get a clerkship). Don't pass up this opportunity to create friendships and professional connections going into next year.

If you have any questions, please just let us know at [email protected]

Finally, in honor of the Stange Dinner and the transfer from the old board to the new board, our final executive board member for the 2019-2020 year is the Director-in-Chief, Jake Weiss. Jake competed on the Jessup International Law Moot team, where his team made it to the quarterfinals. In reflecting upon his experience, he said:

Moot Court has been – without a doubt – my favorite part of law school. Throughout the last year, I have noticed a remarkable improvement in both my brief writing and oral advocacy skills. Beyond its academic benefits, Moot Court has also introduced me to a number of new friends and given me five days I’ll never forget in New Orleans. Joining Moot Court was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m looking forward to serving as Director-in-Chief and working to make sure everyone else in the society feels the same way.

Good luck, Jake!

If you didn't know, Zack Panter is the incoming Director of Intraschool Competitions and has been helping to run the Stange 1L Competition this year. We think he's been doing a great job, and we hope you feel the same way! Zack competed on the Williams Moot Court team that travels to LA and covers LGBTQ+ issues. When talking about Moot, he said:

"I chose Moot Court because it gave me the best opportunity to gain practical skills in legal writing and oral advocacy. Moot Court has served as an incredible stepping stone for my future career goals: the research and writing skills I gained are invaluable as I apply for clerkships, and the in-depth understanding I now have about my issue - an Employment Discrimination case - will be extremely useful as I pursue a career in Employment Law. Best of all, I have an incredible team to support me along the way!”

We are so proud of you, Zack.

04/08/2019

Our next incoming director is the Director of Communications and Events, Emma Cramer. She's the one who will be taking over this page next year! Emma participated on our First Amendment team that travels to Washington, D.C. where she was a semi-finalist! Talking about her Moot Court, Emma said:

My experience in Emory Moot Court Society has been invaluable to my legal education. Not only have I tremendously improved my brief-writing abilities, oral advocacy skills, and engagement as an effective team member, but I have enjoyed every minute of working with my teammate and coaches. I cannot recommend moot court enough to first-year students that want to take these skills and many more to the next level.

We're excited for you, Emma!
