Did you know?

Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC): The 2012 PIAAC survey, conducted by the OECD, found that about 19% of U.S. adults performed at the lowest proficiency levels in literacy. This suggests that they may struggle with tasks requiring more complex reading and understanding.

Consider donating today. Thank you!

📚✨ Make Reading a Habit—Books Everywhere! ✨📚
Imagine a world where books are always within reach—on the coffee table, in the car, by the bedside. Creating a book-rich environment encourages curiosity and nurtures a lifelong love of reading. Let’s make sure every child has access to books at home, school, and everywhere in between. 📖

💡 Tip: Start by placing a small bookshelf in your child’s room or a basket of books in the living room!

We are gearing up for our annual El Gusanito Book Festival!!!! Are you an author? Have you signed up to showcase your book? Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to extend your reach.
To our supporters: We are currently looking for donations of that wrapping paper you have in your closet... maybe you would consider donating roll to us? We would like to have a service of wrapping up the books, etc. at the festival so everyone can have another task checked off their holiday list.

Empowering Communities Through Literacy 07/30/2024

Check out our monthly blog where we will work on sharing data and advocate for literacy. As we prepare for our annual book festival, we strive to help all of us stay in the know and learn how to support literacy for all.

The State of Literacy Today
Literacy is a fundamental skill that impacts all areas of life, from education and employment to health and civic engagement. Yet, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), only 35% of fourth graders and 34% of eighth graders in the United States are proficient in reading. These statistics highlight the urgent need for effective literacy programs and community support.
