In listening to our customers and community members, LBC is very proud to present the launch of one of our newest and greatest segments on social media: Customer Testimonials! We've heard the feedback and we want YOUR help in explaining to us why LBC is near and dear to YOUR heart - and what we can do to continue to help you and your family!

Starting next week, LBC will have various platforms available for you to submit your very own customer testimonial including: informing a retail associate in-house of your interest, letting our field team know while out working, emailing our Media Coordinator, and finally by having an LBC fishbowl at the front desk area by the register where you can drop your business card in to show your interest in being interviewed.

But that's not all folks! If chosen for a customer testimonial, your next visit at LBC will gain you 20% off your entire purchase. That's an entire 20% off any items you buy in the store, and you will not find that deal anywhere else. We value your feedback so much, and your words of encouragement continue to inspire us to be proud ambassadors for this community we all call home. THANK YOU!

If you're interested in supplying LBC with a customer testimonial, feel free to contact our Media Coordinator, Blaine Burris by emailing us at [email protected]!

LBC, as discussed in a previous newsletter last month, has joined the Young Leadership of the America's Initiative (YLAI) fellowship program as a placement area for professionals. Through the assistance of IREX, we are so proud to present you all with our fellow for 2024 - Ms. Patricia Terrero Melo from the Dominican Republic. Patricia will be with us for four weeks, and we encourage you all to get to know her and give her the warm welcome our LBC family is known for. We cannot wait to see what Patricia accomplishes with us!
But, let's get to know Patricia a little more, and give you insight into her background and amazing talents. Patricia is a co-founder of her own organization in the Dominican Republic -- Mina Verde -- which "focuses on facilitators of reliable transactions for the purchase and sale of recyclable materials." As a civil engineer and a master of business administration, Patricia has a deep knowledge of sustainability and a passion for educating the public on the creative benefits of material reuse. In addition, Patricia is also featured in Forbes of Central America and is a member of the Alumni Continuity & Update Program at Barna Management School in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
We are thrilled to welcome Patricia and her skillset on board the LBC team and we know that together we will accomplish great things. Stay tuned to learn more.

The year is certainly heating up as LBC continues to get involved in more areas with our community and community partners. We wanted to take this time to highlight a segment where we shoutout our material donors and how much they assist us daily both in the field and off. Today, we chose a very special, longstanding partner who allowed us the opportunity to participate in a valuable effort to reuse materials from their annual event expo:
During the event, Construction Ready invited LBC down to the Georgia World Congress Center in order to participate in salvaging materials from the teams competing in their expo. Altogether, we were able to salvage over 25,000 pounds of material that will be diverted from the landfill and placed in the hands of our community! That in and of itself is a testament to Construction Ready's commitment to reusable building and sustainability sources in Atlanta.
Our own Warehouse and Inventory Manager (and customer fan favorite), David Bedingfield had this to say about the event:
"LBC attended the Construction Ready Competition on Friday February 23rd. We were able to not only watch the competition but talk to the students and their advisors. Seeing the skills of the students and their dedication to their individual crafts was amazing. We spent the majority of our time in the Masonry and Framing Worlds. The skills that some of the students have will be valuable to them for the rest of their lives. The majority of the students are planning to make their living in the field that they competed in. At the end of the competition LBC was able to recover over 26,000 pounds of viable material: bricks, cinder blocks and framed walls. Thanks for all of the support that was given to LBC by the entire Construction Ready team we hope to see you again soon!"
Special Thanks to Construction Ready & our Decon Team!

LBC is incredibly proud to announce a brand new collaborative partner organization! We have so many incredible ideas planned for the coming new year and are so happy to introduce everyone to the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI), a subdivision of the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX). With an abundance of programming options, IREX exists to further collaboration between nonprofits at the international and federal level.
The Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) is the U.S. Department of State’s flagship program for emerging entrepreneurs and business leaders from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada. Designed to promote mutual understanding and build a network of young business and social entrepreneurs, the program brings young leaders to the U.S. for entrepreneurial leadership training and fellowships with U.S. companies and social enterprises.
LBC will be hosting a fellow from Latin America, a specialist in the field of sustainability. We will unveil our fellow in the future, so please stay tuned for more information. We are so excited to start this journey in March with you all, and cannot wait for you to learn more.
Special Thanks to YLAI & LBC's YLAI rep., Sadie Traylor!

LBC loves partnering with our community members - both organizations and individuals to contribute to something greater than ourselves. In addition, we value educators and the power that education has to affect real change. So, naturally, when Ben Steele of The Westminster School came to visit LBC with a class interested in procuring pieces for their art project, LBC was sure to provide them with wide varieties of unique pieces that would be sure to dazzle!

Mr. Steele's course, Southern Visions: Folk Art, set out to teach students how everyday reusable materials have the potential to create meaningful art projects -- with a little help from their own individuality and imagination. Utilizing various materials such as: glass blocks, rod iron, tile, lumber, etc. the students were able to create a range of art pieces - ranging from abstract to contemporary. A testament to the power that educators have to influence the minds of the next generation, LBC is so thankful to maintain a strong partnership with the Westminster Schools.
Special Thanks to Ben Steele & The Westminster Schools! 🤩

As the holidays swiftly approach, LBC has made sure to find new ways to celebrate our community and clients. On that note, it is our distinct pleasure to introduce one of our youngest community pioneers yet -- Mr. Vincent Druhora. Thoroughly enthralled with the idea of material reuse -- and with the assistance of LBC providing lighting, hardware and tin -- Vincent was able to prove that young people can accomplish great things! Said Vincent:

"One day at thirteen years old I set out to achieve two of my favorite hobbies: taking care of animals and building new things. As we began the search for materials, we naturally stopped first in our FAVORITE reuse store: Lifecycle Building Center! My father was already working on an addition to our home (stay tuned for that story) and had discovered LBC where I found the tin roof for my chicken coop I was creating -- along with the windows, lights and hardware. My chickens now have a beautiful home and I hope to deliver some eggs to my friends at LBC soon for all their help in accomplishing my project!"

THANK YOU VINCENT! WE LOVE OUR CUSTOMERS!

Feel free to share your story with us at [email protected]!
