There is a significant portion of the neurodiverse community that is transgender or gender expansive. There is a significant portion of the transgender community that is neurodiverse. And when these two are seen in tandem, it can make treatment and recovery seem precarious. This session highlights how your intake and treatment staff can hold space for folks that exist at this intersection. We will also look at the 'superpowers' present in many neurodiverse brains. There will be a discussion around how sensory processing issues can hinder or help recovery. There will also be education around paradigms of ableism and transphobia that will affect these individuals’ ability to maintain their recovery. We will talk about ways to challenge internalized ableism and/or transphobia, as well as how to make your treatment space one that is comfortable and safe. http://www.atlantaiaedp.com/events?fbclid=PAAaZlJPmnXS1A6g0g0tMArGGuOfWZdtTAERpngstRS0VcjTMLA5g30lQWXp8
