Garden Hills Pool to Close at 5 Today Due to an Unforeseen Maintenance Issue!

We apologize for this unexpected closure. Please know that the maintenance crew will be ready to begin work as soon as we close so that the GHPPA Board and our staff can ensure a fun-filled 4th of July celebration for you and your family tomorrow. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

The GH Pool Will be Closed Today Due to a Plumbing Emergency!

We have determined that the sewage pumps in the pool house are not working this morning, which unfortunately means that we must close the pool until the necessary repairs can be completed. The good news is that the plumbers are on the way! We will keep you posted on its reopening and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this unforeseen situation may cause you.

Important Announcement: Latest Update on GH Pool Closure Related to COA Lighting Repairs!

We were just informed that the City of Atlanta anticipates being able to complete the installation of the new lighting by tomorrow afternoon, June 7th. These ongoing repairs mean that we cannot safely open the pool this evening, tomorrow morning or prior to the go-ahead from the COA.

What you need to know regarding this unexpected closure:

* All evening swim practices are canceled on 6/6
* The pool will be closed to all swimmers and patrons on 6/6
* All morning swim practices will be canceled on 6/7
*We are hopeful that we will be able to safely open the pool tomorrow at 5 p.m., but it is unknown at this point
*We will send an update at 3 p.m. tomorrow, June 7th, to confirm whether we have been given the go-ahead to open for the evening

Need Community Service Hours? Well, We Need Volunteers! Receive Community Service Hours by Lending a Helping Hand With the Kids in the Summer Camps!

Do you want to earn Community Service Hours and have FUN earning them? We are looking for volunteers at Garden Hills Pool helping our Camp visitors learn to feel comfortable in the water!

We would love for you to stay for the whole morning's time-slots, but if you have time constraints, you can choose the ones that fit your schedule best.

No instructional background is needed, but any experience you have will be valued and welcomed! You will be in the water with them, so wear your suits. There is no curriculum, just your presence in the water: Help them practice floating on their backs, kicking on the side of the pool, shadowing them as they swim across the shallow end, etc. There will be lots of campers among you, and not all will be interested, but just be present and offer assistance.

Don't forget to bring your Community Service record log! Your log can be signed by the Garden Hills Pool Manager on duty on the days you are volunteering.

NOTE: If you are on staff at Garden Hills Pool, you cannot be on the clock while you are volunteering!

SWIM MEET PARKING
The GHPPA is doing everything to minimize congestion by placing traffic cones to limit parking to one side of the street, offering overflow parking for the visiting team swimmers at the Second Ponce church UPPER parking lot off of W Bolling Rd. and having two traffic cops redirecting traffic in the area near the pool.
It is anticipated that there will be 430 swimmers and roughly 280 parents watching the meet. Traffic and parking along the streets near the pool will be heavy. During Cool Sharks' swim meets, the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church has agreed to allow parking in its UPPER lot, which may be accessed from Peachtree Road or from W. Bolling Road, just under 0.4 miles west of the Garden Hills Pool. You might want to drop your child off at the pool before parking. Please take advantage of this overflow parking!

* Avoid the rush on opening day; GH pool is offering multiple opportunities to get your key-tag activated

* If you are a returning member, please bring any existing key-tag in your possession so that it can be reissued

*Bring photo ID

*EVERY family member MUST have their photo taken

* Children over age 12 will receive their own key-tag

* Come get your picture taken & your new key-tag Wednesday or Thursday from 3:30 - 6 p.m.

*If you cannot make it on the 8th or 9th, no worries! You can still renew your old tag or get your new key-tag on your first visit
