Audubon Fire Department
The Audubon Fire Department is an all volunteer Department consisting of over 75 members operating from a single station located at 221 West Merchant St.
in our downtown business district. Each year we respond to many requests for fire, rescue, and EMS assistance while maintaining a very active role in our community. Averaging over 300 calls each year, AFD is a busy Department considering we serve a 1.5 square borough. Our response district includes the Borough of Audubon and certain responses into the towns of Audubon Park, Oaklyn, Haddon Heights,
Last night we lost one of the granite towers to the 9/11 Memorial outside of our building. While it is an unfortunate event, we are happy to say that after reviewing the camera footage, no vandalism occurred, the tower simply suffered a catastrophic failure and fell apart on its own. We are glad it was late at night and no one was near it and injured. Please bear with us as we work to have it replaced.
Thank you Audubon, all sold out! We will be back with more in November!
Final hoagie sale for the season tomorrow May 18th! Let us take care of lunch for you, and grab a freshly made hoagie for only $5! Last chance to grab one until November. Doors will be open by 9:00.
Today we remember Firefighter Joseph Janda Jr, from the Defender Fire Company of Audubon Fire Department who gave the ultimate sacrifice on this date 47 years ago. Pictured is a memorial plaque and Joe’s helmet that is hanging on the wall in our Engine room, as a solemn reminder that things can go wrong in an instant, even on the most routine calls.
In 1977, Firefighter Janda was severely burnt while fighting a large brush fire in a 30' gully, on PSE&G's property, at the end of Davis Avenue on April 9, 1977. While Firefighter Janda and his crew were fighting the brush fire the wind shifted, and they retreated up a steep, muddy hill. Firefighter Janda slipped on the mud and was engulfed by the flames. His crew knocked down the fire, rescued him, and transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Firefighter Janda was later airlifted to Crozer Burn Center were he died on May 8, 1977 due to complications from his burns.
We’ve got lunch covered for you tomorrow. Doors open by 9:00 am at the latest until we sell out! Swing on by and grab a fresh made hoagie for just $5! See you all tomorrow!
PSA - NJ American Water will be conducting routine maintenance on the water system and will be flushing the hydrants through town 3/21 - 3/31. You may notice discoloration in your water, which is nothing to be alarmed about. If you notice them working in your area, it’s best to flush your water system in your home at the lowest spigot, and to remove the screen if there is one, until your water runs clear.
Hoagie sale is still on and they are ready! Come on by and grab some lunch for $5!

Santa will be back in town this Saturday one last time before Christmas for our annual Candy Cane Drive. We will hit the streets at approximately 9:30 AM this Saturday 12/23/23. With the help of a little Christmas magic, Santa will be able to be in 4 places at once! 🎅🏼✨ The town will be split into 4 zones. Attached to this post are the maps for each zone and the turn-by-turn directions he will follow. There is no way to guarantee what time Santa will be on your street, so please listen for him and use the maps as guidance. 911 calls will always take precedence, and in the event of that happening, Santa will return where he left off when the assignment is cleared. Santa is looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend, listen for the sirens! 🎅🏼🚒🚨
Due to this post being shared on multiple pages, if there are any questions, please direct them to us in a message so we don’t miss it in a comment section, thank you.

**Public Service Announcement**
The fire department will be utilizing the former Henry Funeral Home for training purposes. The building is slated for demolition, and it’s not often we get the opportunity to do more realistic training scenarios like this. We just want to notify the residents in the area they will see fire trucks there over the course of the next few weeks on the interior and exterior of the building performing various training excercises and will possibly be utilizing theatrical smoke for some scenarios. We will adhere to the borough noise ordinance for night time training, and we’ll be cleaned up and out of the area as early as possible.
For anyone entering a vehicle or float in tonight’s parade, there is no pre registration necessary. Registration will be done at the entrance to Paul VI High School beginning at 6:00 PM.
The hoagie sale planned for November 11, 2023 is unfortunately canceled. We will resume with them in January.
Come on out tomorrow for Audubon's final Third Friday of 2023. We will be out there with the trucks on display and fire safety handouts for the kids.
Today is the day. Hope to see everyone show up to support the Michael R. McCausland Foundation.

We were honored to once again be a part of America's 9/11 Ride this year. There were just shy of 500 bikes signed up for this years ride, and we were able to provide them with our famous hoagies as they stopped at Barb's Harley Davidson for lunch. Special thanks to Barbs Harley-Davidson and her crew, and the crew from America's 911 Foundation Inc. for letting us and our brothers from Westmont Fire Company No. 1 handle the flag detail for the ride this year. We are already looking forward to next year!
