Maine DOT establishes the Maine Office of Space Engineers!!!
On Saturday, April 1, 2023, the Maine DOT announced on its Facebook and Twitter accounts, the creation of the “Maine Office of Space Engineers”, otherwise known as MOOSE. In its statement, “MaineDOT has recognized the need for a dedicated team to manage the ever-growing number of space vehicles and satellites orbiting our planet. In collaboration with the FAA, Space Force, and NASA, our newest office, aptly named the Maine Office Of Space Engineers (MOOSE), will be responsible for regulating and managing space traffic in and out of Maine's airspace.” Maine DOT also included this patch.
I must say, we are doing something right. The enormous interest Maine has in the NewSpace Economy has led Maine DOT to establish MOOSE to manage all those rockets Maine will launch. Kudos to Maine DOT.
Oh by the way, this is an April's Fool post.

Congratulations to our 2022 MERITS class! Earlier this month they completed their internships and we had a fun celebration day event! It was so great to have our event in person this year and to see and hear about all the great work these students did over the summer. Huge thank you to all of our host mentors this year, we couldn't do this without you! Congrats students - have a wonderful Senior year!!
Another great Space Day Maine event! We love to see all the students enjoying Maine, Space and STEM! Thank you to Sharon Eggleston and all the volunteers, presenters and participants who make Space Day Maine so awesome!!

Maine’s planning to build a spaceport. Here’s how it could become a leader in the industry The state hopes a new law creating the Maine Space Port Corp. is the first step toward achieving that goal.
Yesterday the 33rd Maine Women's Hall of Fame honored two inspiring women, one of which was Dr. Jessica Meir, NASA astronaut and proud Maine native. Jessica is such an influential force to many but especially to the students in our great state.. I had the privilege to attend the ceremony and watch Jessica receive (virtually) this prestigious award. Our very own Sharon Eggleston, MSGC affiliate-at-large, was one of the presenters honoring Jessica, as well as Jessica's fellow astronaut Dr. Andrew Morgan via pre-recorded message. Governor Janet Mills along with Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, Representatives Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden all contributed their special remarks to start off the ceremony. Congratulations to Jessica on this one, of many accomplishments!!
