Our team has the expertise and experience to help you keep your teeth, gums, and jaw healthy, functional, and beautiful.Think of your teeth as the picture and the gums as the frame. A picture always looks better with a beautiful frame.

You may need periodontal treatment for any of several reasons. Some of these include:

Periodontal disease
Bacterial infection in the gums
Bleeding, red, or swollen gums
Receding jawbone
Localized gum recession
Bacterial plaque and calculus (tartar) build-up
Loosening teeth
Excess gum tissue
Tooth root exposure
Tooth root damage
Badly fractured tooth

Dental implants provide a safe, durable replacement for missing teeth. Dental implants function like natural teeth and have a very natural appearance within your mouth. Our doctor is committed to ensuring your optimal comfort and quality care. To that end, we make use of the latest techniques and technologies that allow efficient, stress-free treatment. Many of our patients find dental implants to be an appealing tooth loss solution and are pleased by how relaxed and comfortable their experience can be.

Implantation

Implantation is the first stage in a two-part process that provides a long-term solution for tooth loss. The dental implant, a small titanium post, is gently placed into your jaw by our doctor. This implant functions as an artificial tooth root. As it heals, the implant will fuse with your natural bone, creating a strong, secure foundation and anchor for the replacement tooth or denture. Throughout the process, our team takes great care in ensuring your optimal comfort. We want you to have an excellent implantation experience as well as beautiful results.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants are an aesthetic, effective solution for tooth loss. There are many great benefits to choosing dental implants.

Natural looking smile: Dental implants are crafted to closely resemble your natural teeth, restoring a natural-looking smile.
Improved oral health: Since there is no need to alter surrounding teeth to anchor implants, more of your natural teeth are preserved intact, improving long-term oral health.
Improved speech: With removable, non-anchored dentures, teeth can slip within the mouth, causing slurred or mumbled speech. Dental implants remove that concern. The implants act as reliable anchors for the denture.
Improved comfort: Dental implants avoid the slipping and discomfort of removable dentures.
Improved function: Dental implants function like your natural teeth, allowing you to eat without pain and confidently speak without worrying about the denture slipping.
Durability: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime.
Protect healthy bone structure: Empty spaces caused by tooth loss can, over time, lead to deterioration of the jawbone. Since dental implants function like tooth roots, they are able to preserve the bone and prevent this type of deterioration, just as natural teeth do.
Long-term solution: Dental implants, when cared for properly, can last a lifetime.
Considerations

There are several factors that our doctor will consider before recommending dental implants. Some of these include:

Adequate bone support to anchor the implant
Healthy gum tissue
Sinus and nerve location
Overall health, including any chronic illnesses
In some cases, our doctor may recommend advance treatment for your upper or lower jaw to enable you to have the bone support needed for implantation. As always, your treatment plan is created based on your specific needs and goals for your healthy smile.

Be sure to let us know about any medications you are taking during your consultation. Your health and safety are paramount.

Lasers are playing an increasingly significant role in periodontology, providing highly effective treatments for periodontal osseous surgery, gingivoplasty, gum pigmentation removal, and crown lengthening. A dual-wavelength dental laser is an ideal tool for performing a wide range of laser-assisted periodontal procedures in a minimally invasive, cost-efficient manner. With TwinLightยฎ Periodontal Treatment, you can treat periodontal disease in a comprehensive, minimally invasive way using two of dentistryโ€™s most effective laser wavelengths. As a result of the TwinLightยฎ approach, wavelength-optimized treatments are available for periodontal therapy, providing optimal conditions for periodontal healing. Additionally, TwinLightยฎ prevents infection and reduces pocket depth.

How it works

By using a soft tissue laser in areas of periodontal disease, we are able to:

Remove diseased tissues safely from the gum pocket linings without damaging healthy tissues.
Infections caused by gum disease can be prevented by removing calcified bacterial deposits as well as soft biofilm.
Enhance gum reattachment by stimulating fibrin and coagulation in the soft tissues. 4. The infected pocket is sealed, reducing the possibility of reinfection following treatment.
Compared to non-laser treatments, TwinLightยฎ periodontal therapy achieves faster and more dramatic results.

What to expect

As an alternative (or in conjunction with) periodontal surgery, TwinLightยฎ is a minimally invasive treatment. The laser takes several seconds to decontaminate and stimulate tissue response on each tooth surface. The procedure is not painful, however, some people prefer to have their mouths numbed with a local anesthetic to ensure they are completely comfortable.

Soft tissue lasers use light wavelengths that trigger faster coagulation and disinfection. It is crucial to possess such qualities when managing a severe infection such as periodontitis. As gum pockets are often difficult to clean on your own, providing a sterile environment where gums are already beginning to reattach is the best way to position our patients for a healthy smile.

You can typically expect the following results after your laser gum treatment:

Better results from periodontal treatment
Healing times are shorter
Gum attachment levels improved (pockets reduced)
There is a reduced risk of bone and tooth loss
For more information on TwinLightยฎ laser gum treatment, contact Bedrock Laser Periodontics and Implants today.

Pocket reduction surgery treats the deep gum pockets that form at the edge of the gumline. These pockets can be difficult or impossible to effectively clean at home. With pocket reduction, these pockets are opened, thoroughly cleaned, then put back in place in a position that greatly reduces their depth. By minimizing the depth of the gum pockets, we can ensure that you will be able to avoid excessive bacterial growth in your gums by maintaining proper oral hygiene habits at home.

Third molars, or wisdom teeth, are the last set of permanent molars to emerge. These teeth are also the most likely to require extraction, due to any of several complications. However, other teeth may also require extraction if they cannot be saved by root canal therapy or other treatment. Some of the most common reasons to have teeth extracted include:

Crowding or small mouth โ€“ emerging teeth may cause other teeth to shift or crack due to lack of space
Decay or infection โ€“ when a tooth is affected by extreme decay or infection that cannot be corrected with filling or root canal treatment, it may require extraction
Dr. Nambisan may recommend extraction of one or more of your teeth if any of these issues apply to you. During your consultation, we may also recommend sedation dentistry to make your experience more comfortable.

Post-Extraction Care

After your extraction, you will need to be driven home by a friend or family member. You will require rest, but lie with your head propped on a pillow to prevent prolonged bleeding.

We will apply gauze when your extraction is complete. When it becomes soaked, change it for a fresh piece. Use pain medication and ice packs as directed for pain and swelling. If bleeding continues beyond 24 hours, contact our office immediately.

For the first few days following extraction, limit your diet to soft foods. Avoid smoking or using a straw, as the pressures created by these actions can slow clotting and loosen sutures.

For more information or an extraction consultation, contact our office.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants provide a safe, durable replacement for missing teeth. Dental implants function like natural teeth and have a very natural appearance within your mouth. your natural bone, creating a strong, secure foundation for the replacement tooth or denture. Throughout the process, our team takes great care in ensuring your optimal comfort.

Dental Implant with Replacement Crown

A replacement crown is a prosthetic tooth that is attached to the dental implant. This crown is custom-designed to look and function like one of your natural teeth. In some cases, a temporary crown may be provided, to provide aesthetic and functional benefit while your implant heals. Once the implant has fully healed, the custom-crafted permanent replacement crown is affixed, restoring the fullness and functionality of your smile. Replacement crowns are a great option for replacing any number of teeth.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-Supported Dentures provide another teeth replacement option that can be a great alternative to conventional dentures. Our doctor will recommend a teeth replacement plan based on your individual needs and preferences.

Removable Implant-Supported Dentures provide replacement for all upper and/or lower teeth. They can be removed for cleaning like conventional dentures, yet are far more secure than unsupported dentures. These dentures can be attached with as few as 4 implants, though are more secure with additional implants. Our dentist will advise you on how many implants are best for your removable implant-supported dentures.
Fixed Implant-Supported Dentures also replace all upper and/or lower teeth. These dentures are permanently anchored to your dental implants. They are used to replace a full set of teeth and can be helpful in preventing bone loss. The strength of dental implants provides an ideal anchor for dentures that will not become loose or slip within your mouth.
Implant-Secured Partial Fixed Dentures are a type of bridge that is anchored to one or more dental implants. A standard bridge is a type of partial denture that replaces one or more teeth. The standard bridge is secured to surrounding teeth, which can cause these neighboring teeth to become loose. With implant-secured partial fixed dentures, the implant provides the anchor, so your natural teeth are not compromised.

FAQs

How do I care for my implants?

You will need to care for your implants just as you care for your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing are important to prevent the build-up of plaque. Regular dental cleanings and exams are still an important part of ensuring great oral health.

Is it painful to receive a dental implant?

With the advances of modern technology, most patients report feeling very little discomfort both during and after treatment. Our team is trained and certified to offer sedation with oral surgery, which provides a relaxed, comfortable experience during treatment.

How long will my implants last?

With proper care and treatment, your implants can last a lifetime, just like natural teeth.

Crown lengthening treatment removes excess gum tissue from around one or more of your teeth, exposing additional tooth structure above your gum line. This may be recommended if you have a โ€œgummyโ€ smile or to provide better access to correct issues with decayed or broken teeth or infected gums.

During treatment, your gums are moved away from your tooth and jawbone. The bone will be smoothed, if needed, prior to reattaching the gums lower on the teeth. With more tooth structure showing above the gumline, your teeth now appear longer and your gums less prominent.

02/10/2023

In the rear portion of the upper jaw, the maxillary sinus cavity lies just beyond the jawbone. In many cases, that cavity is so large that there is insufficient bone to allow the secure placement of dental implants. When this occurs, our doctor may recommend a sinus graft. Like bone grafting, a sinus graft involves the surgical application of donor tissue to augment the existing bone structure. Depending on your individual needs, this may be done at the time of implant placement or done in advance and allowed to fully heal before your implants are placed. In either case, your sinus grafting will ensure you have enough strong bone in your upper jaw to anchor your dental implants.

02/10/2023

Dental implants are an aesthetic and effective solution for tooth loss. However, to place a dental implant, you must have sufficient healthy bone structure in the area where the implant will be placed. This bone serves to anchor the implant in place and ensure your tooth replacement solution is strong and long-lasting.

When teeth are lost or removed without replacement, resorption (bone loss) can occur. If we find that you have experienced bone loss in the area where you need implants, we may recommend a bone graft. A bone graft augments the healthy bone in your jaw and stimulates regeneration that further restores your jawbone structure.

Once fully healed, you will be ready to receive dental implants that will provide a solution for tooth loss and prevent further resorption of jaw bone structure.

A frenum (also called frenulum) is a tissue attachment that holds or connects an area such as the tongue, lip or cheek. Occasionally a frenum might be exceptionally tight, thick or short. Frenul pull can contribute to localized areas of gum recession. It can also play a role in creating gaps between teeth.

A frenectomy is a simple surgery to excise the frenum. This procedure generally takes less than fifteen minutes and has minimal postoperative discomfort.

Diastema

A diastema is a large gap between teeth. A diastema can result from an unusually thick or tight frenum that attaches close to the teeth. Frenectomy, combined with orthodontics, can correct this problem.

Tongue-tied

Normal tongue motion can be constricted with a tight frenum. This can tug on the gingiva of the lower anterior teeth, creating recession. In severe cases, this may affect speech. Eliminating this attachment can restore proper tongue movements and eliminate gingival pull.

02/10/2023

There are two types of gum grafting: free gingival graft and connective tissue graft. Each serves a specific purpose in treating gum recession. Our periodontist will recommend the treatment that is right for your individual needs.

Free Gingival Graft: this graft is designed to thicken thinning gums in cases where there is no tooth root exposure. By thickening the gum tissue, your gums are more resistant to infection. Additionally, the free gingival graft helps to prevent further gum recession.

Connective Tissue Graft: this graft is designed to treat cases where tooth root surfaces have been exposed. The graft is used to cover the exposed tissue and help to reestablish the proper gum contours within the mouth. The success of this method often depends on the amount of bone loss in the area where the exposure has occurred.

Our doctor will discuss your benefits and likely outcomes prior to beginning treatment.

As an alternative to injectables, LipLaseยฎ is a non-invasive procedure that gives patients plumper, velvety lips. As the collagen in your lips is stimulated and revived, you will see results that are more natural and softer.

Fillers work by injecting a solution into your lips, which instantly plumps and fills the lips. Fillers, however, tend to break down over time and are metabolized by the body. Therefore, the results only last up to four to six months, and maintenance sessions are required. Patients rave about their fillersโ€™ results, but find maintenance tedious and expensive.

LipLaseยฎ, on the other hand, takes a different approach. Rather than injecting a solution into the skin, the laser encourages and boosts the bodyโ€™s natural collagen production. The results of a laser treatment session can be seen, but they are not as pronounced as those obtained from a lip filler session. Patients will notice that their lips have become softer, lighter, and plumper over the course of four to six months.

While some patients love fillers and the immediate results they provide, LipLaseยฎ is a safer, non-invasive, natural alternative for those who want fuller, smoother lips without needles.

In most cases, patients can see results immediately after their first session. The treatment lasts 15 minutes per session. In order to achieve the best results, we recommend 6 sessions, with the first 3 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart, and the remaining 3 sessions at a monthโ€™s interval. The results can last for up to 12 months.

As a result of the laser treatment, the lips will appear swollen immediately after the treatment. Within a couple of hours, this usually goes away. On the second or third day, there will be a slight superficial peeling. There is no downtime after the treatment, so patients can resume their daily activities immediately. Aftercare recommendations include using SPF 50 lip balm or skin moisturizer and not wearing lipstick for 24 hours. For three days, do not consume spicy foods or extremely hot liquids. Immediately following the procedure, avoid sports activities, swimming pools, and exposure to the sun. If you have always wanted fuller, more attractive lips but avoided treatment due to traditional lip filler procedures, LipLaseยฎ may be the best choice for you. Find out how this revolutionary procedure can benefit you by scheduling a consultation with Bedrock Laser Periodontics and Implants today.

With the Fotona laser, we are able to assist patients who suffer from sleep apnea symptoms with a procedure called NightLaseยฎ. NightLaseยฎ is a minimally invasive treatment that reduces the effects of sleep apnea and causes less snoring without the need for surgery inside the mouth. In order to open the airways, the Fotona laser gently heats up the collagen within the soft tissues of the mouth. These tissues are known to collapse and block the airways. Through the use of NightLaseยฎ, the collagen in the mouth is tightened, resulting in the expansion of the airway. As a result, more air can flow freely and snoring is reduced. The majority of patients experience positive effects and better sleep the same day they undergo NightLaseยฎ treatment. If NightLaseยฎ is combined with another form of sleep apnea treatment, such as CPAP or an oral appliance, it can be most effective in providing a healthy, restful nightโ€™s sleep.

This treatment is an alternative procedure for patients who cannot tolerate CPAP and or Mandibular Advancement Devices. Or, has been recommended as a co-therapy/adjunct therapy. NightLaseยฎ has been found to be a therapy that is beneficial in reducing snoring and OSA or its side effects by opening the airway. Studies show that NightLaseยฎ can reduce snoring by 50% on average. 95.2% of people state improvement in snoring and 57.1% reported significant improvement in snoring after treatment. (Journal of the Laser and Health Academy ISSN 1855-9913 Vol 2013, No.1). CBCT analysis shows an average of 20-22% increase in airway volume. (Evaluation of a non-ablative Er: YAG laser procedure to increase the oropharyngeal airway volume: A pilot study. ISSN: 205B-5314.)

Erbium: Yag Laser non-ablative (non-cutting) treatment of the soft palate and surrounding area.

Treatment will consist of three+, 30-60 min sessions 21 days apart.

There are no risks other than that you may not perceive an improvement in your symptoms.

LipLaseยฎ treatment uses laser energy to stimulate collagen regeneration and plump the lips.
Through the process of collagen regeneration, LipLaseยฎ enhances the lips, giving them a fuller, more natural appearance. The results are similar to lip fillers, but this is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure that involves no puncturing or cutting of the skin. It is suitable for all skin types without the downtime and is a needleless option for clients who donโ€™t like needles.
By boosting your bodyโ€™s own collagen production and synthesis, this procedure gradually gives you naturally plump, pouty lips.

By using the Fotona laser, we can enhance facial esthetics by reducing wrinkles around the face and shrinking deep lines with SmoothLaseยฎ. SmoothLaseยฎ treatments can produce results that can make patients look up to ten years younger. By heating up the collagen inside of the mouth, the Fotona laser causes it to shrink and form new collagen. As a result, wrinkles, sagging skin, and deep facial marks are less noticeable. Unlike other anti-wrinkle treatments, SmoothLaseยฎdoes not require the use of an anesthetic. It is common for patients to see improvements in their facial esthetics shortly after their first treatment.
