We celebrated our dads in a big way!!! Thank you, Austin Classic Car Club, for bringing us an awesome little car show. We also had Kona Shaved Ice, and Jimi Lee brought his usual amazing music. We reminisced, enjoyed refreshing snow cones and some of us even got up and danced to the live music we had while we cooled down. It was a tremendous turnout of family as everyone came together to celebrate the dads. Gosh! We have so much fun around here!
Don't forget to take a moment to appreciate all the dad jokes this Father's Day! 💙
Let us introduce you to another member of The A-Team; Ashley Schafer, our sales manager.
Ashley started at Brookdale Westlake Hills doing medical records from 2016-2018, took a break to do skilled nursing admissions, and then came back to Brookdale in 2019. She has been a Texas Notary since 2016. Ashley started in senior living 20+ years ago as a Certified Caregiver. She said, "My grandmother is the reason I am in the medical field. When she was first diagnosed with cancer, I was 16 years old. For about 15 years I helped care for her, and then I helped my mother care for my grandfather. This set me on the path I was meant for. I love Brookdale and everything it stands for, and I really love Beckett Meadows!"

The Storm
I could hear and smell the rain outracing the waves, ready to roll off to a new adventure.
The world disappeared but still feel the spray of the water, wet and powerful.
Satisfied that I am a part of God’s kingdom, my problems just fell away as my body was anointed.
A gift, not just a body but a person put into life like a satellite into space
Then, everything became calm and serene.
I could hear and smell the rain.

It's all about family! We would like to take a moment to recognize our residents and their families. We love our residents so much, and we believe so strongly in the power of family! It is such a blessing to see family members in the building visiting and being involved in our parties, events, and activities. We are so happy to have you all!
Several times a week the Claphams have a family lunch in the game area. They are often themed, and they always go all out. There are many spaces that are set aside for families to utilize for whatever type of gathering they want to have. We love that the Claphams take this opportunity to spend time together!
Lunch Bunch gets together once a month to share lunch and meet new residents and just fellowship with each other. This is just one of our fun clubs. We love inviting new members, ordering some good take-out, and having a good time with old friends and new friends. This month was Schlotzsky's. The turkey avocado sandwich is so good, and we can't even begin to express how heavenly the Cinnabon centers are, but Winnie, Dorothy, Judy, and John can give you an idea. Bob was happy with everything and entertained us with some funny jokes. Sammy and Carrina got to meet some new friends and were made to feel welcome in their new home. We have some very friendly people!
The best peach cobbler is the biggest secret! Salt lick peach cobbler is a recipe that is kept a very big secret. Only the ladies who make it know. We think we almost have it figured out, but there is one ingredient we just cannot put our finger on. It sure was fun trying. Served up warm and topped with ice cream, it is so good and well worth the trip to Driftwood! John and Flo give it a hearty thumbs up! Even our driver, Bunky couldn't resist. Mike gave it two thumbs up and Richard was definitely in his "happy place" enjoying this delectable treat. We want to give a big thank you to Dillen for taking very good care of us!
