Whatever we keep hidden from ourselves stays in the dark and feeds off of shame and secrecy.
One of the most difficult yet liberating aspects of therapy is that it invites radical honesty with ourselves.
Admitting the truth to ourselves can look like acknowledging what we feel, what we think, what we like, what we don’t like, what we long for, what makes us angry, and why it makes us angry.
And only when we are ready to be honest with ourselves and speak our truth, we start inviting change.
Quitting things we’ve outgrown leaves us energy available for creativity, play, and connection. Here is my perspective on quitting!
You Should Quit: How letting go can propel you forward Different perspective on quitting.
Another Monday - another opportunity to stop avoiding problems, choose yourself instead, and make space for your internal experiences. 🫣
Recently I read somewhere a beautiful definition of therapy. They called it a “shared effort to understand and make use of the pains and pleasures of life’s experiences.” 🫶

When it comes to psychotherapy, I’ve always been drawn to approaches that honor individual’s agency, complexity of their experience, and timing for change.
I don’t adhere to formulaic approaches, quick solutions, and pathologizing one’s experience.
My therapy style is exploratory, conversational, and engaged. I believe that growth and change spontaneously emerge in conditions of safety, acceptance, and compassion.
With that in mind, my role of a therapist is not to fix someone (as people are not broken objects) or heal someone (that power belongs to each individual), but to create an environment where growth can take place naturally.
If you’re considering talk therapy and want to see if we’d be a good fit, reach out to schedule a consultation!
Happy Monday!

This tea bag got some wisdom!
Doubling down on what’s not working and what’s not aligned with you will not make it right.
Notice if there’s an area of your life you’re trying to control.
What if you stopped forcing it?
Therapy sessions are a form of true self-care practice where we have the space to attend to and engage with our inner world.
It’s an opportunity to slow down, self-reflect, and make space for all parts of ourselves.
If you have a lot on your mind, let’s talk about it.
Reach out through link in bio or send me an email (sladja@innerbecoming) to begin!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hope everyone is having a peaceful and gratitude filled day. 💕
When we approach personal growth from a place of shame and self-judgment, we move further away from its intention and the whole process may start feeling like a self-punishment and a never-ending quest for “improvement.”
👉 Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1️⃣ Be patient - there is no place of arrival.
2️⃣ Whatever you’re working towards, find a way to truly enjoy the process.
3️⃣ Don’t measure your progress by where someone else is.
4️⃣ A part of you may not want to change - be curious about that.
5️⃣ You can get to the same place by motivating or criticising yourself.
Making a decision that feels right in our heart is often the most difficult one because it requires us to be courageous and it challenges us to move through discomfort.
🔥We grow by overcoming the obstacles, not by hiding from them.
📈 Whether it's a hobby, a project, or a personal goal, the initial excitement often propels us forward with great enthusiasm.
💡 We're brimming with ideas, motivation, and a burning desire to succeed, or sometimes - to not fail. 😬
😮💨 But as time goes on, we encounter obstacles, distractions, and setbacks, all of which are expected parts of a hero’s journey.
😒 The road gets bumpy, future becomes uncertain, and suddenly, that initial burst of energy seems to fade away.
🤨 We find ourselves facing the hard truth: continuing what we started despite the challenges.
😫 Now that is a whole different ballgame.
⁉️ Why does it have to be so dang difficult to keep going?
👉 Well, my friends, the answer lies in all the boring (non-sexy) stuff no one wants to hear: commitment, discipline, and perseverance.
🙂 It's easy to be inspired and that first step, but maintaining the momentum requires consistent effort.
🫣 It's in those moments of doubt and weariness that our determination is truly tested.
✨ In those moments, we have to remember the beauty that lies beyond the struggle.
👉 When we push through the tough times, we build character and resilience.
👉 We discover our true strength and learn more about ourselves along the way.
👉 We develop skills and habits that serve us not only in that particular endeavor but also in other aspects of life.
✨ So, if you feel like giving up or find it hard to continue…
… take a deep breath (and/or a break, sometimes you just need a break to see things clearly) and look inward to find that big ‘why’ that matters more than a temporary obstacle.
📚✍️ Let’s talk about the incredible benefits of journaling and how it can transform your life. 📖✨
1️⃣ Mental Clarity: Pouring your thoughts onto paper helps declutter your mind, giving you a clearer perspective on life's challenges and opportunities. 🧠✨
2️⃣ Emotional Release: Journaling serves as a safe space to express and process emotions, reducing stress and promoting emotional well-being. It's like self-therapy on a page! 🌈💆♀️
3️⃣ Self-Discovery: By jotting down your experiences, dreams, and goals, you gain a deeper understanding of who you are and what truly matters to you. 🌟🔍
4️⃣ Problem Solving: Writing down your problems allows you to analyze them objectively and find creative solutions and personal growth. 💡🌱
5️⃣ Attitude of Gratitude: Documenting moments of joy and appreciation boosts happiness and brings more positivity into your life. 🙏✨
6️⃣ Track Your Progress: Use your journal as a record of achievements, lessons learned, and personal growth milestones. Witnessing your progress is incredibly motivating! 📈🎯
7️⃣ Stress Relief: The act of journaling itself can be cathartic, providing a peaceful escape from the chaos of everyday life. It's your private sanctuary of calm. 🌿🌌
🖊️📔 So, grab a pen and a journal, and embark on this enriching journey of self-reflection and personal growth.
✨ Your future self will thank you!
Life is filled with ups and downs, laughter and tears.
And while riding that rollercoaster, we need to remember that we’re all imperfect beings, doing our best while learning and growing along the way.
Taking ourselves too seriously can lead to unnecessary stress and self-imposed pressure.
Instead, embrace the quirks and imperfections that make you unique. This is what River reminds me of daily!
Laugh at your mistakes and remember the valuable lessons they bring.
When we loosen up and allow ourselves to be playful, we create space for genuine connections.
Taking ourselves less seriously helps us become more open-minded, flexible, willing to explore new ideas, and experiences without the fear of judgment.
By embracing a playful attitude, we invite creativity and innovation into our lives.
Remember, it’s okay to laugh at ourselves, to indulge in silliness, and to find joy in the simplest of moments.
Life is too short to be constantly burdened by seriousness.
So, let’s lighten up, enjoy the ride, and savor every precious moment along the way!
💬 There are moments when we struggle to find the right words or fear the vulnerability that comes with sharing our inner world.
💬 Sometimes, our silence stems from a fear of judgment or rejection. We may hesitate to voice our true thoughts because we worry about the consequences or how others might perceive us.
❔ Check in with yourself:
👉 What am I NOT saying? Why?
👉 What am I afraid would happen if I did?
👉 Around whom do I struggle to fully open up?
Recently I’ve been reflecting on and witnessing the power of acceptance.
We often want to change things we judge about ourselves.
But in order to bring about change, we must first acknowledge and accept the current situation.
Condemning or judging something without acceptance only serves to suppress or burden it further, rather than setting it free.
True liberation comes from understanding and embracing reality, which then allows us to take constructive steps towards transformation.
Feeling so much gratitude that I get to do the work that I do. 🫶
Challenges are tangible moments where healing and change takes place, because in those moments we have the opportunity to practice responding in ways that feel wholesome, authentic, and aligned. 💕
A big part of life is recognizing when it's time to let go of certain things so we can let in something new, more fulfilling to take its place.
A journaling prompt I love (particularly when I feel weighed down) is "What do I want to let go of?" or "What is weighing me down?"
Think about the things, beliefs, opinions, feelings, memories, regrets, experiences, people, habits, etc. that feel heavy, burdensome, and unnecessary.
Let yourself write until nothing else comes to mind.
Notice how you feel after putting those burdens down.
Let yourself be in this lighter state, and from that place ask yourself," What do I want to let in?" or "What do I want more of?"
Let all the things, beliefs, opinions, feelings, memories, regrets, experiences, people, habits, you would love to let in come to you.
You don't need to force answers, rather let them arise from this unburdened state you're in.
Notice how it feels to let in all that goodness.
We spend way more time in the process of working towards something than soaking in its final achievement.
So instead of forcing yourself to “suck it up” or “just get through it,” find a way to love the actual process.
And if *trying to love the process* feels like forcing yourself, maybe it’s because it’s not congruent with your true Self.
🔄 As soon as we wake up, we start to create a momentum.
🫤 If we’re not intentional, we start engaging with thoughts that create a negative momentum that persists throughout our day.
😀 It’s important to remember that this new day doesn’t have to be spent on the same thoughts as the day before and that we can respond differently to new challenges.
☺️ Check in with yourself:
👉 How can you start creating a positive momentum on purpose?
👉 What do you need to do differently today?
New book club selection! We’re excited for this one!
😒 We often organize our lives in ways that drain our energy and kill our creativity and zest for life.
⏳ We do that by filling up our time with things that don’t truly matter to us, which in turn leaves no space for meaningful things that actually matter.
➜ Here’s a check in you can do:
👉 What’s something that keeps sucking the life out of you, yet you continue to engage with?
👉 What lights you up and genuinely fills your cup, yet you can’t seem to *find* time to do it?
👉 How could you create more space for the latter?
👉 What’s one thing you could add to/take away from your daily schedule that would substantially increase your quality of life?
