Build a life worth sharing with Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT)!
Sending you some loving kindness this afternoon!✨
Stop what you're doing! This is your cue to get up and take a dance break. Put on some music, bust a move, and activate those feelings of safety in your body✨
We invite you to pause and take a deep breath. Release any tension you might be holding in your forehead, jaw, or shoulders. Take this moment to show yourself compassion for your humanness!
Stop what you're doing! Take a moment to hold the superhero pose with your hands, feeling your imaginary cape blow in the wind. This stance can send an empowering message to our brain that all is well and we are safe to embrace radical openness.
Our body and brain jump into an emergency shut down system when we're feeling overwhelmed. We might sense that we can't solve the overwhelming things coming our way, leaving us feeling stuck. These bodily cues send a powerful signal that we may need to show ourselves extra compassion and care.
Increased breathing and heart rate are signs that our body might feel threatened, and there are other things to look out for. When something cues us up to feel danger, our bodies jump into action with many responses. Identifying that we feel unsafe is the first step in soothing our bodies and reconnecting with others.
Safety cues help us feel protected, loved, and secure. When our body is in a relaxed state of safety, we feel better able to be curious, creative, and connected with our communities. Here are a few things that cue up our sense of safety!
We'd like to take today to celebrate friend love! RO-DBT treatment developer Dr. Thomas Lynch shares some insights about radically open friendships. Inquire this -- what can you learn about love and connection from your friendships?
Sharing a gentle reminder this afternoon💕In the radically open world, we celebrate our mistakes! We don't know what we don't know. Mistakes can be amazing teachers that show us where we have room to learn and grow.
Did you know that you're a radically open scientist? Dr. Thomas Lynch reminds us "For example, the best scientists realize that current knowledge will eventually change and evolve into greater knowledge. Science is a process of discovery: a more sophisticated idea eventually replaces old theory."
Today we're sharing some wisdom from author, activist and facilitator Adrienne Maree Brown, often styled as adrienne maree brown. She writes on the liberation of admitting we don't know in her blog post. See the full article here: https://adriennemareebrown.net/2017/05/10/admitting-we-dont-know/
We celebrate awareness in the RO-DBT world -- and our radically open practice doesn't stop there! We can learn so much from mindfully tuning into our inner experiences. Radical openness challenges us to lean into our personal unknowns, discover something new about ourselves, and put our findings into action.
It makes perfect sense why we sometimes have the urge to keep secrets! Outing our truth can feel overwhelming. Radical openness reminds us how secrets keep us stuck and challenge us to be open to sharing our inner experiences with others.
Happy New Year from all of us at Austin RO-DBT! We're kicking off 2023 reminding you of your amazing capability. Let's move into the new year authentically!
As 2022 comes to a close, let's take a moment to rethink resolutions!
The holiday season can leave us feeling out of control. Reminding ourselves what we do have control over can offer some grounding when this time of year becomes overwhelming.
Popping in with a gentle reminder to start off the weekend✨How can you show yourself compassion today?
Sharing some wisdom around perfectionism from the lovely Brené Brown this afternoon!
In the radically open world, we say what we mean and mean what we say! Sometimes we can feel stuck in indirect communication. Speaking with integrity strengthens our relationships and helps us uncover our authentic meaning.
Gentle reminder that you are SO capable of staying true to your authentic self!✨
It goes without saying that we looove radical openness💕This complete and total openness to new information can feel freeing, rewarding, and courageous -- and it's what we're all about!
