As I sit down and reflect about what this year has meant for myself and Bond Collective, I think back to how long it's been. Ten years ago, 2012 marked the first time I heard the term "coworking."

At the time, I had a construction company and was looking for office space. A friend suggested I check out his office in a new coworking space. I immediately had an "aha" moment when I walked through those doors. Blown away, I walked outside and knew at that moment that this was my calling.

Our first location was in the Flatiron district of NYC and our vision for the brand has always been the same: create great spaces that make you say, "I want to work here!". My team and I built the desks from old beams removed from a brownstone renovation. We bootstrapped our way through the project and opened our doors, hoping that maybe this crazy idea would work, and work it did.

Looking back on the past ten years–what a wild ride it's been. In 2019, we aggressively began our expansion, almost tripling in growth in 2020. No one could have predicted what would happen next. As the pandemic began, we were forced to close our doors, however, as we distanced psychically, we became closer as a team. It was unbelievable to watch as everyone pitched in;, we were all there for our members and each other.

The pandemic has taught me a lesson on the importance of connection and community. We all can work from home these days, but we realized how important it is to collaborate and build meaningful bonds. Beyond productivity and success, we need to be vulnerable and share in one another's humanity, to reach out for connection and to help one another grow. Our work resounds when we come together.

As our first decade as a company comes to a close, I want to say how proud I am of what we have created together. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing our spaces alive and creating energy day in and day out; this is what makes Bond Collective such a special place. As we look forward to the new year, we are excited about creating more moments of togetherness.

May 2023 be the best year yet for all of us personally and professionally!
