This Saturday (2/11), Women's March ATX is hosting a picketing @ the Capitol @ noon. Come hear from speakers including our very own chair, Donna Howard and Caucus member Rep. Vikki Goodwin about how we can keep women’s reproductive rights in the conversations of our policymakers!
Tonight at 8pm CT, will deliver the . Two of his guests are from ATX & we are here to share their story about the impact of harmful abortion bans.
Here is their story: Amanda was 18 weeks pregnant when her water broke. She and her husband Josh were devastated, as they had been trying for a baby for over a year. Her doctors were unable to intervene to help her because they were concerned that providing the treatment she needed would violate the Texas abortion ban, which prohibits abortion care unless a woman’s life is in danger. She was sent home with instructions to come back if she developed signs of a life-threatening infection, which she did, three days later. Zurawski developed sepsis and nearly died because of the delay in receiving treatment. She continues to suffer from medical complications due to the delay.
Today is the 30th anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)! This act has given workers the right to take time to take care of themselves and their loved ones without risking their job. It is the end of Cervical Cancer awareness month. Remember that Cervical Cancer is preventable with HPV vaccinations and treatable when caught early. Make sure to check in on your mental health, and put your mind at ease by talking to a healthcare provider and get HPV and pap tested.
It is important that we remember the landmark court case ruling for protecting a woman's right to reproductive healthcare and privacy. This week would have been its 50th anniversary, but nevertheless, we should never forget its significance and those involved in this fight. We should continue fighting for women’s reproductive rights and bodily autonomy.

Today, we joined the Maternal Health Equity Collaborative, the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, and so many others to honor the lives of those lost due to maternal health complications and to demand Texas Department of State Health Services to on maternal mortality and morbidity. In 2019, 148 Texans died due to maternal health complications. Now,
Texas Department of State Health Services has refused to comply with the law and that could save lives. The report is now 2 months late and everyday that passes is another that the recommendations contained within the report are not used to save lives. Today, we honor the lives of those lost to maternal mortality by demanding for DSHS to release the 2022 Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Report.
📺tune in now! Chair , PP Pres/CEO , and Senator are talking about life After Roe
Watch a panel on Roe v. Wade at the 2022 Texas Tribune Festival Ana Marie Cox moderates a conversation about women’s health, women’s rights and an uncertain future with former state Sen. Wendy Davis, state Rep. Donna Howard and Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson.
Today marks one year since Senate Bill 8 went into effect and upended decades of Constitutional protections. Since then, Texans have lives in a post Roe world and have endured the pain of not having access to the services we need.
But hope is on the horizon. We have an opportunity to elect three pro-abortion statewide candidates. We also have one election cycle to ensure that the laws that go into effect on 9/1/2023 do NOT include anti-abortion measures that are far more extreme than SB 8. One election cycle to reverse course and elect people who will restore abortion access in TX. Together, we can secure a better future for ALL.
102 yrs ago the 19th amendment was ratified. While we celebrate that milestone, we’re continuing to work for full equality in our democracy--everything from demanding equal pay for equal work to abolishing discriminatory sales taxes on period products to ensuring bodily autonomy. This year, women’s rights and bodily autonomy hang in the balance. The right to vote is our most powerful tool to effect change. Celebrate Women’s Equality Day by registering to vote or becoming a Deputy Voter Registrar so you can register others.
