UMPEA 2024 Mardi Gras Royal Court

Today several UMPEA teachers were honored at the EBR Ready Start Network Excellence In Teaching Brunch Event. EBR honored early childhood educators who scored an Excellent Score within the range of 6.0 to 7.0 during the 2022-2023 school year.

UMPEA will like to send a special thank you to Mr. Hays, Mr. Ben and Roberto's River Road Restaurant for blessing the staff with Thanksgiving Lunch. Also, thank you to the preschool committee for the dessert and help. UMPEA is blessed to have wonderful and supportive parents and students.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend with the family? UUMC is having their Annual Fall Festival on Sunday,October 29, 2023 at 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the front parking lot (Flyer attached). There will be carnival games, inflatables, food and lots of family fun. This event is free and fun for all ages. See you then!!

Today UMPEA held their annual Think Pink Walk. This year walk was dedicated to Mrs. Penny (8 yrs), Ms. Joan (2 yrs) and Dr. Joan (1 yr ) survivors of Breast Cancer. UMPEA staff and students love these women tremendously 💕.

UMPEA would like to thank Mrs. Erin for her 13 years of love and dedication to UMPEA. Tomorrow is her last day at UMPEA and we are going to miss her tremendously. Mrs. Erin has worked with the after school for 13 years and has been a great support to the preschool and after school alike. The teachers and administration are going to miss her tremendously. Mrs. Erin's daughters will both be attending elementary school in St. Francisville after having gone all the way through the preschool program from 3 months-Pre-K. She has decided to stay close to home to be closer to her daughters. We will all cherish the memories we have made together and wish her the best.

UMPEA Summer Camp Registration is now open. Please contact Mrs. Erin, [email protected], to register your child or for more information. *Please note, your child must have been enrolled in Kindergarten-8th grade for the 2022/2023 school year in order for them to attend summer camp.*

This Week at UMPEA:

Oct. 15-Think Pink Day & Walk - Saturday, October 15, 2022 UMPEA will have their annual Think Pink Walk. This year we will have the walk on a Saturday to allow everyone to be involved. The walk will take place at 9:00 a.m. in the front parking lot. We will walk down Dalrymple to March street to the boat dock area (right before the interstate) and circle back around to the preschool. We will have stations set-up for water breaks while we walk the lakes. We are asking that all students wear pink for the walk in support of this cause. You may also make a sign for your child to walk with if there is someone you would like to remember or honor who has been affected by breast cancer. We will supply pink ribbons for all of the children to wear. If you have family members that would like to sponsor your child for the walk, they can make a donation on the school page at https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/GEAUX/UniversityMethodist. It's that time of year again where we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month . The preschool will be hosting 3 events this month to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness with a donation drive, Think Pink Walk and After Party. Below you will find a list and details for all upcoming events.

Oct. 3-15-Breast Cancer Awareness Donation Drive-Many people have been affected by breast cancer and UMPEA would like to show our support by having a donation drive. Last year the preschool raised $713.50 and all of the proceeds were donated to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The drive will begin on October 3, 2022 and will end on October 15, 2022. Geaux Pink | Breast Cancer Awareness In October we wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month. A portion of the proceeds from our Geaux Pink Collection will benefit breast cancer patients and free breast cancer screenings in the Baton Rouge community thanks to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

UMPEA staff and teachers is gearing up for the 2022/2023 school year. See you August 8, 2022.

UMPEA would like to thank National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT)
for a wonderful training on “Run.Hide.Fight”. This was a very informative 8 hour class on how to survive an active threat. UMPEA would also like to thank our wonderful parent, Meghan Lawson for organizing this event. UMPEA’s goal is to provide a safe and loving environment.
