Thank you to the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition for dropping by for a Lunch & Learn about mentorship! Our students were excited to learn about the different ways being a mentor can make a major impact in our community, and the many opportunities to get involved through BRYC's programming. 🤝

We closed out our third and final day of orientation with some engaging hands-on work as our incoming students grouped up to tackle a case study with Management Consulted and then presented their solutions to their peers. Congratulations and welcome to the newest members of the Flores MBA family – we'll see you first thing Monday morning for classes!

It's that time of year again! 🎉 Our Fall 2024 orientation kicked off this morning, and we're excited to get to know the newest members of the Flores MBA Program over the next three days of activities. Today, students will familiarize themselves with the journey and opportunities ahead, plus hear directly from our amazing student leaders about the MBA student experience both inside and outside the classroom.

Congratulations to the Flores MBA graduates – and all graduates of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business – who crossed the stage this morning! We are so proud of your accomplishments and can't wait to see what you do out in the world.

With the new academic year almost here, we're already starting to welcome the next generation of Flores MBA students into our halls! Last weekend our incoming EMBA cohort went through their orientation, where they participated in a variety of onboarding activities including:

Our EMBA cohort wasn't the only group on-the-geaux these last few weeks! Several of our amazing staff members in the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business Office of Graduate Business Programs recently attended the annual Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) Conference in New Orleans, where they connected with colleagues from across the nation to discuss current issues impacting graduate education, best advising practices, and more.

We're sadly nearing the end of our European adventure with the EMBA cohort, but they made the most of their remaining time in Italy with two more great business connections!

🚲CINELLI where Group CEO Marcello Segato discussed Cinelli's experience managing relationships with high-end clientele in the performance cycling world, the role of the bicycle in solving mobility challenges, and doing business with private equity firms.

👗Casille e Casille, a historic Milanese fashion house, where Francesco Casille educated the cohort on the challenges of innovation and distribution in the high-end Italian fashion industry.

The fun and learning continues in Italy with our EMBA cohort. Since arriving in Milan, they've had several opportunities to interact with the Italian business community, including:

⚡Eni Plenitude Wind & Energy, where Paolo Finardi, Head of Data Science, hosted a discussion on predictive analytics, generative artificial intelligence, and opportunities in the energy sector.

🐮ZIPO Azienda Agricolo, where owner Marco Pozzi (wearing some LSU swag!) and his daughter Elisa gave the cohort a tour of their farm and an introduction to the sustainable farming methods responsible for ZIPO's renowned cheesemaking and dairy products.

🌍 Travel update: our EMBA students have migrated to a slightly warmer environment! The cohort spent their first full day in Italy exploring everything Milan - one of the world's great cultural and financial hubs - offers, including the stunning architecture of Duomo di Milano.

Our EMBA cohort is spreading LSU's colors on a global scale! Students arrived in Copenhagen last Friday; they've spent the past few days exploring the city, learning about Danish culture, and making some new business connections:

🏦 Danske Bank, where we met with Senior Vice President & Tribe Lead Dennis Kristjansen for an engaging discussion on opportunities in the real estate and mortgage markets, plus some insight on his own career journey.

🏘️CBRE, where we met with Head of ESG Stefani Papadaki and Senior Director Dragana Marina to learn more about the firm's ESG initiatives both in Denmark and across the globe.

Next stop: Milan!

📣 We're excited to announce that the LSU Flores MBA Association's spring gala raised over $20,500 for the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition.

BRYC's mission is to provide educational and college-prep resources to high-achieving and under-resourced high school students in our community. As future leaders, LSU MBAA members believe it is their duty to serve the community around them. We're so proud of their outstanding work.

In the final session of the Strategy Speaker Series, Kyle Cooke, the founder of adult beverage company Drink Loverboy, joined Instructor Jake Smith's class as a guest speaker. Kyle, also a TV personality who has starred on Bravo's "Summer House" and "Winter House," spoke candidly about the challenges of entering the beverage industry and how to differentiate products in a highly saturated market. He provided valuable advice on working with people you are close to, producing content, and the power of saying 'Yes.' We want to express our gratitude to Kyle and the other guest speakers for making the Strategy Speaker Series so impactful.

Instructor Jake Smith's strategic management class had the privilege of meeting Adam Hendle, founder of Slay Laundry. Adam answered students' questions live and in person and gave unique insights into the fascinating story behind the start of his business. He was open and honest about the struggles his company faces in terms of product innovation and differentiation, as well as explaining his desire to shift from international manufacturing to domestic. He also revealed the surprising main customer segment SLAY Laundry serves: women over the age of 50. Adam, thank you so much for sharing your infectious energy and for your willingness to spend time with us here at LSU!

Laura Lady, an LSU international trade & finance graduate and the founder and CEO of FryAway, recently joined Instructor Jake Smith’s strategic management course for a virtual Q&A with students. Laura shared invaluable insights regarding the opportunities and challenges of pricing a unique product, managing a fully remote, globally-based staff, and the nuances behind brand partnerships. Laura, thank you so much for your time and willingness to share your experiences with us!

We were proud to be represented by John Trapp, Sarah Lastrapes, Mackenzie Cooper, and Philip O'Neill at the 2024 SEC Case Competition at Mississippi State University. Teams were tasked with crafting and presenting an innovative business solution for FedEx. This experience helped participants enhance their research, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
