The Board of Regents, a state agency created by the 1974 Louisiana Constitution, coordinates all public higher education in Louisiana. The Board began operations on January 1, 1975, succeeding the Coordinating Council for Higher Education per Article VIII, Section 5; Article VII, Section 10.1. Commissioner Kim Hunter Reed returned to North Louisiana this week.
She was Thursday’s keynote speaker at the Call Me MiSTER Conference hosted by Grambling State University.
On Friday, Dr. Reed will deliver remarks at the Investiture of GSU President Dr. Martin Lemelle.
In August, Bossier Parish Community College received the state's only Governor's Military and Veteran Friendly (GMVF) Campus Gold Tier of Distinction.
BPCC was one of 29 postsecondary institutions designated as a GMVF campus.

Louisiana’s adoption of math reform for college students in need of additional support is working.
Data shared with the Louisiana Board of Regents during today’s meeting demonstrated that 52% of students taking corequisite math courses in 2023-24 were able to pass a credit-bearing math class during their first year.

For the fifth consecutive year, all public postsecondary institutions earned the military-friendly designation. Louisiana Christian University, a private Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities member, has earned the GMVF designation for the first time.
Additionally, twenty-one (21) institutions met the criteria for consideration to be designated in the Gold, Silver, or Bronze tier for 2024-25.

Thanks to grant funding provided through Strong Start to Finish to support professional development for faculty statewide, Regents selected 13 outstanding corequisite faculty across the state to participate by serving as Mindset Meauxtivators.
They represent 13 campuses across Louisiana: Baton Rouge Community College, Delgado Community College, LSU, LSU Shreveport, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Nunez Community College, River Parishes Community College, South Louisiana Community College, Southern University and A&M College - Baton Rouge, LA, SOWELA Technical Community College, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and University of Louisiana Monroe.
The 13 faculty members are in Baton Rouge for Tuesday's inaugural training session. They will be introduced on Wednesday at the August Board meeting.

Regents’ Academic Affairs and Innovation team is hosting its kickoff event for the Meauxmentum Scholars.
