Crazy but true. If memory serves you, the winds get stronger after the rain stops.
Thankfully there was no one inside and there are no injuries!

7AM Update 09/11/24: No real change. From WBRZ Channel 2 The storm continues to strengthen. It's a strong Category 1 with peak winds at 90 mph as it moves northeast at 12mph. The system is still in an intensification period and is expected to gain enough strength to become a Category 2 storm later this morning. Landfall is likely on Wednesday afternoon between Vermillion and Terrebonne Bays as a Category 2 storm with peak winds at 100 mph.
4am update, 9/11/24: Remains a category 1 hurricane with winds of 90MPH.
This is how WBRZ Channel 2 addresses the eastward shift.
Francine is still in short window of time where the system could intensify and is expected to gain enough strength to become a Category 2 storm later this morning. Landfall is likely on Wednesday afternoon between Vermillion and Terrebonne Bays at or slightly below peak intensity. The latest forecast shows a landfall as a Category 2 storm with peak winds at 100 mph.
While impacts can and will be felt all around the center of the storm, the strongest winds and heaviest rain is typically found north and east of center. Some computer model guidance continues to suggest the storm taking a more eastward track. Should that trend hold and come to pass, this would lessen the severity of impacts along and west of Baton Rouge. Although western locations might benefit from this kind of shift, that would occur to the detriment of those to the east where impacts would increase.
09/10/24 10pm numbers hold at 75mph maximum sustained winds. Track w/ the slightest shift eastward. Also, Hurricane Francine has not yet picked up speed. Now 295 mi SW of Morgan City. Still moving NE at 10mph
Francine becomes a Hurricane!
At 700 PM CDT (0000 UTC), the center of Hurricane Francine was located near latitude 25.8 North, longitude 94.8 West. Francine is moving toward the northeast near 10 mph (17 km/h). A faster northeastward motion is expected tonight and Wednesday. On the forecast track, Francine is anticipated to make landfall in Louisiana Wednesday afternoon or evening. After landfall, the center is expected to move northward into the Mississippi Wednesday night and Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected through Wednesday morning. Francine is expected to weaken quickly after it moves inland.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km) from the center.
The minimum central pressure based on data from the Air Force and NOAA Hurricane Hunters is 982 mb (29.00 inches).
4pm Update: 09/10/24 Very little change in the track of today -- other than the slight nudges east with each update. The latest shows it moving the fastest it has at 10mph in a NE Direction, but it has not gotten stronger as of this update. Forecasters say that *will* change as she moves into more favorable conditions for development. SELA is seeing the biggest rise in threat. Still forecast to arrive as a hurricane at landfall Wednesday afternoon/evening.
Our news partners at WBRZ Channel 2 have a full list of school closures posted ahead of impacts. >> https://www.wbrz.com/news/school-closures-announced-ahead-of-francine-s-landfall
9/9/2024: There was a 7pm Intermediate Update from the on which indicated the storm is expected to become a hurricane "very soon." Closures will pile on once that happens. Stay tuned for the latest...
The next update will be 10pm.
