We are getting a lot of questions regarding proper sun protection for kids in the summer time. Here are some tips to avoid getting burned in this Texas heat!

1. Wear a hat, one that covers the face ears and neck

2. Limit exposure between 10 am and 4 pm! This is when UV rays are the strongest!

3. Keep babies under 6 months of age out of direct sun exposure.

4. Most importantly, use sunscreen…don’t forget the ears and the lips!

The best choice of sunscreen are those that are both PABA and chemical-free. The ONLY ingredients should be ZINC OXIDE and TITANIUM OXIDE. Anytime you use a new brand, we suggest applying it to a small area of skin first to check for an allergic reaction. Also please don’t forget to reapply every 1.5-2 hours.

**Changes to next weeks office hours**

Monday 5/27 we will be closed all day. Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸
Tuesday 5/28 and Wednesday 5/29 we will be open all day (8am-5pm).
Thursday 5/30 and Friday 5/31 the office will be open 8am-12pm. We will close at noon both of these days.

The following week, beginning Monday 6/3 we will resume normal office hours!

New office policy: At this time if you have any paperwork needing to be completed please make sure you have those available during wellness exams or office visits. If these items aren’t completed at that time there will be a $20 fee to have those completed by providers/staff.

Examples: sports physicals, camp paperwork, immunization records, daycare release.

For anyone needing immunization records: you can also print those via patient portal at

Texas Children’s Health Plan patients — We are aware of the letters you received in the mail stating we are not in network. We are in the process of fixing this error. You do NOT need to find a new provider. So sorry for this inconvenience!!

BCBS HMO patients— Good news!! The previous insurance error has been resolved and we do not anticipate any issues moving forward. Thanks for your patience with this matter.

To all our Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO policies: There is a letter being mailed out to you from your insurance stating that starting April 1st you will have to find a new primary care physician. This is an error in the system and currently being fixed at this time. We will continue caring for your children in the meantime. We are so sorry for inconvenience. Please contact us with any further questions or concerns.

**Patient portal reminder**

Parents if you don’t have access to your child’s patient portal, please contact the office for instructions and password resets. Our patient portal allows access to medical records, immunizations, upcoming appointments, prescription refills, and messaging directly to providers and/or our medical assistants for any questions. Messages will be reviewed daily and someone will get back to you in a timely manner. Utilizing the patient portal is very helpful in efficiently allowing parents and staff communicate with each other. 🙂
