It’s Native American Heritage Month! Also knows as American Indian Heritage Month, we honor the culture, community, and contributions made by Indigenous people. Did you know UC Berkeley sits on the land of the Ohlone people? It’s important to recognize that the university wouldn’t be what it is today without occupying this native land so we should all be appreciative!

Let’s get down to business to defeat that summertime procrastination! Here’s what YOU need to do before school starts on August 24th! Read ⬇️for more info!
1) Complete any tasks in CalCentral.

2) Make sure to meet all eligibility requirements by the deadline in order to not delay any aid you’ll receive, which releases on 8/14.

3) Is your housing expense more than what’s projected in your Cost of Attendance in CalCentral? Or maybe you want to include your new laptop purchase into your Cost of Attendance? You can request to adjust the Cost of Attendance with the financial aid office on their website at financialaid.berkeley.edu in early August.

4) Make sure you are *actually* enrolled by enrolling in at least one class, paying at least 20% of tuition and fees by 8/19, and having no holds against your registration.

5) If you need to withdraw from UC Berkeley, the deadline is on 8/24 or you will be subject to penalties.

6) Need to pick up your Cal1 Card? If you are a first year student/transfer student living on-campus, pick yours up at move-in. If you aren’t living on-campus, you can pick yours up at GBO check-in on 8/17.

7) Did your finances change from when you submitted the FAFSA? You can appeal your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) for financial aid by reviewing your EFC in CalCentral and making an appointment with the financial aid office.

8) Signing up for direct deposit allows any returns to go directly to you. Sign up for direct deposit at eftstudent.berkeley.edu

9) Still need help? That’s ok! Resolve questions regarding financial aid, billing and payments, enrollment or transcripts by booking an appointment with Cal Student Central. Got questions about SHIP? Contact University Health Services (). Admissions questions: get in touch with a counselor: admissions.berkeley.edu/contact-us ()

A movie was filmed on campus over the summer! 😱 🎥 A major Hollywood studio, sent UC Berkeley back to the 1940s at the end of May for the filming of Oppenheimer! (Coming out in 2023) The set, which included old cars and costumes, was constructed near Sather Tower, Wheeler Hall, and Physics North! Can you name any other movies that were filmed on campus?
