"Happy Women's History Month! UC Berkeley has produced many remarkable women who have dedicated their lives to serving the social good and making a positive impact on the world. Here are just a few examples of prominent women who attended UC Berkeley and went on to work for the betterment of society:
Betty Friedman: Betty was a feminist activist and author who played a pivotal role in the women's liberation movement in the 1960s and 1970s. Friedman attended UC Berkeley and went on to write "The Feminine Mystique," a groundbreaking book that helped to spark the feminist movement.
Alice Waters: Alice is a chef, author, and political activist who founded the renowned restaurant Chez Panisse in Berkeley. Waters attended UC Berkeley and later went on to promote the "slow food" movement, emphasizing the importance of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and sustainable agriculture.
Barbara Lee: Barbara is a congresswoman who has served in the House of Representatives since 1998. Lee earned her Master's degree in Social Work at UC Berkeley and has been an advocate for social justice and women's rights throughout her career.
These women, along with many others who attended Cal, have left an inspiring legacy of compassion, activism, and positive change. Let's honor and remember their contributions this Women's History Month and continue to work towards a just and equitable society for all.
