Alice and Therese will be sharing thoughts on travel, fashion and culture in the 1930s, in the cozy, congenial surroundings of Clio’s. Themes will include the early 20th century fascination with vamps and vampires, the glamour of travel in the 1930s, how the international characteristics of Art Deco style spread across the world, and how immortality might affect one’s choices in fashion and lifestyle.

Gatsby Summer Afternoon is coming up fast on September 8 at the Dunsmuir Mansion in Oakland. I look forward to this every year & stepping back into the 1920s. Vintage cars, The Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, performances by the Decobelles & picnicking on these beautiful grounds. Don’t be intimidated by needing the perfect outfit or picnic. A flowing summer dress & a simple picnic of sandwiches & fruit is great. I stayed away too long for that reason. Please join us.
