The Oceti Sakowin Community Academy was developed in partnership with NDN Collective and NACA Inspired Schools Network, an organization based in New Mexico dedicated to creating schools across the country that are relevant to the communities they serve. ๐ซ๐ชถ
OSCA builds upon the decades of work by Lakota educators, language speakers, and community members who want to see a brighter future for their youth. Hopes for the Oceti Community Academy are that the school will serve as a model for other schools around Turtle Island, showing communities a new way of educating Indigenous students. ๐งโ๐๐งโ๐ซ
"This school's purpose is to create new models of Indigenous education. . . OSCA is about creating leaders who have a sense of identity, who have a sense of purpose, who know where they are, & who know where they come from,โ said Nick Tilsen (Oglala Lakota), NDN Collective President & CEO. ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ค
