A recent 16-year follow up study of children placed on stimulants (Ritalin) in elementary school found that inconsistent use of stimulant therapy allowed for the best height outcomes. Weight was not adversely impacted due to kids on stimulants gaining weight faster than unmedicated peers in their teens, making up for childhood losses. Inconsistent stimulant therapy amounted to years of infrequent use (e.g. < half the year).
