Did you know that September is National Recovery Month? Southern Tier 8 is proud to be a part of the CREST Initiative, the Collaborative Recovery Empowerment of the Southern Tier, designed to connect jobseekers in our region with recovery friendly businesses. What many business owners and managers do not realize is that avoiding hiring jobseekers in recovery DOES NOT prevent drugs and alcohol from entering your workplace; with individuals in active recovery facing unemployment at least 3x higher than the national average, employers are missing out on hundreds of viable candidates due to an unfortunate stigma. After reviewing the statistics below, consider this: how can employers promote the health and well-being of their employees? This National Recovery Month, take the first step towards success and connect with a CREST Team Member to learn how to better support employees struggling with a substance use disorder.
