⚠️🚨 FOOD SAFETY ALERT! 🚨⚠️
Boar's Head Provisions Co. is recalling all LIVERWURST and select DELI MEATS due to possible Listeria contamination. Some of these meats are intended for slicing at delis and others are pre-packaged. Please click the link for a full list of recalled products.
If you have any of these products in your refrigerator:
1.) DO NOT EAT them. Throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them.
2.) CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN. Listeria bacteria spreads very easily and sticks around. Thoroughly clean your refrigerator, counters, plates, and any other surfaces that may have come in contact with the deli meat.
3. MONITOR FOR SYMPTOMS. Listeria can cause fever, muscle aches, tiredness, stiff neck, headache, and confusion. Listeria is especially dangerous for the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant people. It can lead to miscarriage and premature birth. Call your healthcare provider if you have any of these symptoms.
Broome County Health Department is working closely with our local restaurants, cafeterias, and healthcare providers. Click here for more details:

⚠️CONSUMER ALERT⚠️
Some lots of El Chilar, Marcum, SWAD. Supreme Tradition, Compania Indillor Orientale, ALB Flavor, Shahzada, Spice Class, and La Frontera brand CINNAMON may have HIGH LEVELS OF LEAD.
Please check your cupboards and throw away any of the products on this list: https://www.fda.gov/food/alerts-advisories-safety-information/more-ground-cinnamon-products-added-fda-public-health-alert-due-presence-elevated-levels-lead
Lead is toxic and can lead to developmental delays, speech and hearing problems, kidney disorders, seizures, coma, and even death. Lead is especially dangerous for young children and pregnant people. The most common source of lead poisoning in Broome County is house paint but food can sometimes be a problem, especially spices. Keep your kitchen lead-free!
Safety Alert The FDA is advising consumers to throw away and not to buy the ground cinnamon products because samples of products listed in the table were found to contain elevated levels of lead.
Connecting people to local food sources enables direct interaction with farmers. WIC’s farmers market nutrition program not only provides fresh fruits and veggies to families, it strengthens community bonds with local business leaders. Learn more about the program at WIC50th.nwica.org
