The Formula SAE team had the opportunity to participate in this year’s Green Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. The event featured a fuel efficiency competition for alternate-fueled vehicles as well as an autocross event where we raced our 2022 Rose 2 car.

We would like to thank the Green Grand Prix, Watkins Glen International, and SCCA for their support and we can’t wait to be back next year!

Aero putting in the work with the wet layup!

In a wet layup, our engineers design and 3D print molds to lay the carbon fiber on. They then apply epoxy resin with a brush, and vacuum bag material to remove excess resin. Once the epoxy resin is cured, we’re left with a beautiful and durable finish on our aerodynamic elements.

Over the weekend, we had our 2021-22 FSAE vehicle tested at the SUNY Morrisville dyno testing facility. This test gave us valuable information regarding our vehicle’s top speed, horsepower, and torque. From the information we collected, we were able to identify areas where we can better tune our vehicle to improve our power production.

Thanks to Matthew P***k and Ray Grabowski at SUNY Morrisville for the tour of the Automotive Facility and use of the dynamometer, as well as our shop tech John Guernsey for accompanying the team and pulling the trailer.
