At Academy of the Sacred Heart, “Suzanne's Nest" is the name of our infant classroom, where our youngest and most vulnerable students come to grow, learn and love each day. Today, as we join our country and the world in remembering and praying for the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, we have an added pang in our hearts, as always, for Suzanne Kondratenko (Class of '92) who lost her life while saving others in the World Trade Center. "Suzanne's Nest" is named in her honor - a fitting tribute, as on that fateful day Suzanne lost her life while helping others, including an expectant mother.

Some of the babies from that inaugural Suzanne’s Nest class are now teenagers. Time marches on, but WE WILL NEVER FORGET. ❤️ Pray for peace.

A member of the Academy of the Sacred Heart Class of 1974, Diane Szczepaniak, will have her art featured in an exhibit beginning September 7. Diane passed away in 2019. Read on for more and to view some of her work.

Gallery Neptune & Brown is pleased to present a solo exhibition featuring Diane Szczepaniak's watercolor and oil paintings. Diane's luminous, jewel-like paintings emerged from a meditative process of applying multiple layers of translucent color. Through her artistic practice she explored form, space, light, and color in order to capture the "essence of being."

Opening Reception:
Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 5-7 p.m.

Class of 2020 Kensington Hall Alum and Sacred Heart lifer Dylan Larkins was recently recognized by the Detroit Tigers as one of the best African American high school baseball players in the greater Detroit community!

At the annual “Passing of the Bat” ceremony, Tigers legend Willie Horton, alongside Negro Leagues players and current Tigers, held a symbolic “torch passing” from a former Negro Leagues player to several generations of former and current African American Tigers players. The bat was then presented to Dylan, who will play baseball at Georgetown University. Dylan is a recent graduate of U of D Jesuit High School and Academy. Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

Sacred Heart Alumna Emily Kornegay was recently sworn in as the new Chief of Staff of the IRS - the revenue service for the United States Federal Government! 🇺🇸 Emily is a member of the Academy of the Sacred Heart Class of 1995. Join us in congratulating and praying for Emily!

We are still glowing from the 125th Anniversary Celebration of the Academy of the Sacred Heart (Bloomfield Hills, MI) Alumnae and Alumni Association. This year's reunion was our biggest in years! A beloved member of the Academy of the Sacred Heart community has passed on. Lynn Byrd spent 30+ years serving generations of students in the Academy of the Sacred Heart (Bloomfield Hills, MI) Primary School. She was passionate about teaching students to read and express themselves through art. She readily shared her own artistic talents with students and with her colleagues. After retirement, she often returned to sew with the students.

Friends may gather at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Saturday, June 1, 2024, 1pm until Memorial Service at 3pm.
