The 23rd Annual CHARACTER COUNTS! Recognition Program – Nominations Now Being Accepted
The Bloomingdale CHARACTER COUNTS Coalition annually recognizes members of the Bloomingdale community who regularly exhibit one or more of the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. If you know an individual who lives, works, volunteers, or attends school in Bloomingdale who displays one or more of the Six Pillars of Character, you are encouraged to nominate them for this award by completing and submitting a nomination form.
Nomination forms can be found on the Bloomingdale CHARACTER COUNTS! website at www.character60108.org. The deadline for nominations is March 6, 2024. Recipients will be honored at the Annual Recognition Breakfast in April.

Bloomingdale Park District extends a special thank you to Illinois State Senator Seth Lewis (pictured far right) and Illinois State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (pictured far left) for their loyal and continued support for the mission of parks and recreation in Illinois. Both attended the recent Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association Soaring To New Heights state conference held in Chicago.

They are pictured with Bloomingdale Park District's Joe Potts, Executive Director, and Sandy Vangundy, Director of Recreation, following an awards presentation at the conference. Sandy received the prestigious Community Impact Award at this year’s conference as part of a luncheon program attended by the state legislators. She was nominated by her colleagues at the Bloomingdale Park District with a committee of state-wide peers reviewing and deciding on the award winner.

The Bloomingdale CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition's annual Celebration Night was held on Tuesday, October 4. This year's theme was the Pillar of Caring. The evening included the presentation of the 2022 American Youth Character Awards, (award recipients are pictured above with their respective school official). Mayor Franco was in attendance and Village Trustee Frank Bucaro read the Proclamation of all of the Coalition members proclaiming CHARACTER COUNTS! Day in the Village of Bloomingdale. The audience was entertained by student performances.
