NEW ONLINE GROUP STARTS SOON--
Living with Long COVID - Indiana-wide Online Group Therapy
Biweekly beginning Jan 19, 1:30 ā 3:00 pm
Living with fatigue and other symptoms of COVID-19 that persist long past the acute phase of illness often leads to significant loss of function, a confusing prognosis, and feelings of being misunderstood. This group exists to provide a sense of community with others who understand because they too are living through a similar experience. It includes educational components related to coping with fatigue and other common sources of struggle (e.g., feeling misunderstood because of the invisibility of the illness, feelings of blame/shame, whether and how to talk about the illness to others) and evidence-based copings skills (e.g., pacing, mindfulness).
The group is for adults in Indiana age 18 and older and will meet biweekly for 4 months (8 sessions). New participants can start Jan 19 and Feb 2; after that this series is closed.
Fee is $35/session. Sessions may be billable to insurance. Enrollment usually requires a billable session with Dr. Linda F. Brown, clinical health psychologist, before the first session. For more information contact Dr. Brown at 812.360.0924 or [email protected].

This
Thursday mood.
Daily meditation may work as well as a popular drug to calm anxiety, study finds ā NPR Researchers compared a practice of daily mindfulness meditation to taking Lexapro to control anxiety symptoms. The meditators got equivalent relief, without the side effects.
You have traveled too fast over false ground;
Now your soul has come to take you back.
Take refuge in your senses, open up
To all the small miracles you rushed through.
Become inclined to watch the way of rain
When it falls slow and free.
Imitate the habit of twilight,
Taking time to open the well of color
That fostered the brightness of day.
Draw alongside the silence of stone
Until its calmness can claim you.
Be excessively gentle with yourself.

WHAT IS THE PRIORITY?
I think deep down most of us know what our priorities are. For example, most people feel that quality time with loved ones is more important than working harder to make more money.
But in the hundreds of decisions we make every day, itās not so easy to stay focused on what matters, especially if we are living a lot of the time on autopilot mode or weāre rushing or stressed.
And let's face it, for many of us, daily life is pretty busy and demanding. We have overly full calendars, long to-do lists and plenty of distractions that pull at our attention along the way.
But although ticking things off the task list can feel satisfying in the moment, and busyness can have an upbeat buzz about it, there is also a risk that we can start moving through life in a haze of busyness and distraction and lose touch with what is deeply important to us deep in our hearts.
We canāt do everything in life. We have to choose where our limited attention and energy should go. So keeping in mind what our true priorities are as we go about life is really a key skill in living a more intentional and meaningful life.
So my invitation for you today is to see if you can get clearer on your top priorities in life and keep them close. Is it quality time with your family, is it a passion project, a deeper cause or perhaps taking care of your health or living a sustainable life?
Write them down, stick them up, tell someone or make a commitment. Devote more of your time and energy towards the things that matter. Let go of more of the things that donāt.
As you give more energy to your true priorities, you will naturally begin to lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
What I want to be

A brand new one for your Tuesday. š
THERE IS TIME
There is time to look up at golden maple,
to consider her limbs all tangled up
with light and life, how unafraid
she is to be nakedāto let it all come,
to let it all go. There is time
to stand still on the front porch on a Tuesday afternoon
and water the flowers that have graced you
with orange blossoms each day
of this fading summer, time to say thank youā
for another afternoon, another Tuesday,
for blossoms and front porches and stillness
and time. Time.
Yes, there is time to say no to the rushing,
to the push to perform, no to the chase
to collect all the prettiest things, yes to opening
the book of poetry, to lingering on a line until every
last window blows open inside you.
Might you look up at the sky full of stars and laugh
at how, just a moment ago, you tried to undo what had already
been done, laugh at how you worried yourself sick
over whys and what ifs, worried over, overāwhat was that again?
Who would you be without the storm
in your mind, if you took the time
to taste the exact flavor of this fading momentā
the moment that took 13.8 billion years
to get here. Maybe
you would be like that golden maple,
all tangled up with light and lifeā
unafraid to be naked, unafraid
to let it all come
to let it all go.
