7 Valuable lessons we learned from Difficult times:
1. Failure is necessary to grow:
Failure and success aren't opposites; they are parts of the process.
2. Difficult times are necessary:
Life isn't a linear line; it's a wave of good and evil. Embrace the tough times because they help you grow, thrive, and teach you to be grateful.
4. Problems aren't always negative:
Some storms come to clear your path. When you can't decide where to go, a problem will arise to clear the path and guide you to your destination.
5. Change is constant, not variable:
You are always in a state of constant change. Wherever you try to settle in any situation, an event may arise that forces you to change. And that's how the world works. You are in a mode of discovering and learning your new versions.
6. Energy is finite; invest it wisely:
Pick your battles wisely. That's the way to survive in this world. Every action doesn't require your reaction. Your reactions to specific actions set the tone in your life. So, choose where you want to invest your energy.
7. Be grateful for everything:
You should thrive on living a peaceful life alongside your hustle to live a great life. When you're grateful for the small things around you, happiness will cost less. And that's what every individual should aim for finding happiness in small things.
Global Hand Washing Day is an international hand-washing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people worldwide to improve their hand-washing habits. In 2008, Global Handwashing Day was celebrated for the first time. Each year in October, many organizations and government institutions across the globe observe this day to remind people of the importance of hand hygiene to health.
This year, the theme was โClean Hands are Within Reach.โ
In Nairobi, a US-based non-governmental organization with offices in Nairobi, Healthcare Extension Promotion and Training Organization (HEPTO) teamed up with Stoni Athi Rotary Club and Acanova to sensitize school children in Kinanie on the significance of handwashing and body hygiene in general. Washing hands is one of the important things one can do to prevent among other diseases, food poisoning, cholera, and others.
This week, HEPTO donated sanitary towels to girls in some primary schools in Kinanie, Machakos County to promote good hygiene and offer education on reproductive health.
Provision of sanitary towels helps keep young girls in school and reduces the poverty cycle that is brought about by dropping out of school.
Hepto has in the past conducted free medical camps in Kenya, specifically in Machakos, Isiolo, Meru, and Kilifi counties targeting poor households who can not afford medical services.
In June this year, the organization donated foodstuffs to residents of Kalama in Machakos County.
โ Hepto works with the National government and county governments to identify needy persons, especially those ailing, and people with disabilities to help reduce their burden,โ Lintari said.
The organization which is making a strong presence in Kenya, as a beacon of hope for persons struggling to gain Medicare, has recently spread its wings to Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and Somaliland to enhance and increase treatment and knowledge of healthcare to health workers and the general public in those countries.
Global Handwashing Day:Clean Hands are within reach.
We are excited to stand alongside our esteemed partners, HEPTO , ACANOVA Africa and Ministry of Health , on this Global Handwashing Day. Together, we're making a significant impact in the realm of public health.
Handwashing isn't just a routine; it's a powerful tool in safeguarding our health. As we celebrate this day, we encourage everyone to recognize the significance of thorough handwashing in halting the spread of diseases.
We're committed to raising awareness about hand hygiene, emphasizing its role in preventing illnesses, and fostering healthy habits worldwide.
Join us tomorrow, Wednesday 18th October at Kinanie Primary School from 2pm and let's change the lives of these young ones one hand washing experience at a time.
Global Handwashing Day: Promoting Hygiene and Saving Lives
Global Handwashing Day, celebrated annually on October 15th, stands as a crucial reminder of the significance of proper hand hygiene. This day emphasizes the importance of washing hands with soap and water to prevent diseases and save lives. In this essay, we will delve into the origins of Global Handwashing Day, its objectives, and the impact it has on public health globally.
**Origins and Significance**
Global Handwashing Day was first initiated in 2008 by the Global Handwashing Partnership (GHP), a coalition of international stakeholders who aimed to transform handwashing with soap into a universal habit. The day was established to foster a global and local culture of handwashing with soap and raise awareness about the benefits of this simple yet effective practice.
**Objectives of Global Handwashing Day**
The primary objective of Global Handwashing Day is to raise awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an easy, effective, and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives. The day aims to:
1. **Promote Awareness:** Global Handwashing Day educates people about the significance of handwashing and its role in preventing various illnesses, especially communicable diseases.
2. **Advocate for Hand Hygiene:** The day serves as a platform to advocate for hand hygiene policies and practices in schools, communities, and workplaces. It emphasizes the need for proper handwashing facilities and encourages their widespread availability.
3. **Encourage Behavioral Change:** By organizing events and campaigns, Global Handwashing Day encourages individuals to adopt and maintain good handwashing habits. These behavioral changes contribute significantly to reducing the spread of diseases.
4. **Empower Communities:** The day empowers communities with knowledge about hand hygiene, enabling them to take control of their health and well-being. It emphasizes the importance of collective action in promoting good hygiene practices.
**Global Impact**
Global Handwashing Day has had a profound impact on public health worldwide. By promoting regular handwashing, especially before meals and after using the restroom, the initiative has contributed significantly to reducing the incidence of various diseases. The impact of this day can be seen in several areas:
1. **Disease Prevention:** Proper handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of diseases such as diarrhea, respiratory infections, and foodborne illnesses. By promoting this practice, Global Handwashing Day has played a vital role in reducing the prevalence of these diseases.
2. **Child Mortality Reduction:** Handwashing interventions, especially in developing countries, have contributed to a decline in child mortality rates. Children are particularly vulnerable to diseases, and regular handwashing significantly reduces their susceptibility to infections.
3. **School Attendance:** In regions where handwashing programs have been implemented, there has been an increase in school attendance among children. By reducing the number of sick days, handwashing positively impacts the education of millions of children worldwide.
4. **Community Health Improvement:** Global Handwashing Day has led to improved overall community health. By reducing the transmission of diseases, communities experience fewer outbreaks, leading to better quality of life and economic productivity.
5. **Pandemic Preparedness:**The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of hand hygiene on a global scale. Global Handwashing Day initiatives have contributed to increased awareness about proper handwashing techniques, which has been crucial in the fight against the spread of the virus.
**Conclusion**
Global Handwashing Day serves as a powerful reminder that a simple act like washing hands can have a significant impact on public health. By promoting awareness, advocating for policy changes, encouraging behavioral shifts, and empowering communities, this initiative continues to save lives and improve the well-being of millions of people worldwide. As we celebrate Global Handwashing Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to promoting good hand hygiene practices and work towards a healthier, disease-free future for all. stay tuned for more
