it's not that I don't see the value in webpages, it's just one more thing that requires time to manage! we have our hands full just keeping the Cafe in good order!

This Humble Little Restaurant In Idaho Is So Old Fashioned, It Doesn't Even Have A Website For large portions and delicious food (including homemade scones!) plan a visit to Merritt's Family Restaurant in Boise, Idaho.

6 AM to 3PM 7 days a week!!!!!!!!!! We changed our hours almost 8 Months ago, we have repeatedly gone to several sites that post businesses such as Google, Yelp and Facebook! We changed the hours they have posted to reflect we are open from 6;00 am to 3;00 pm 7 days a week! 8 months later Google has got it correct, yet we still get people that show up and get angry because we are closed, But the app they use says we are open! We even had one lady telling us we had to stay open and honor the hours as they are posted on the internet! LMAO If you know how to take absolute control over the internet, please share that! Many of the Apps create unauthorized profiles of Businesses they use what ever information they can glean from the internet and create the page without the knowledge of the business! if you look closely at many of these you will see a button that states if you are the owner of this business click here to claim your page! Its a hustle, when you as the owner go to their link they want to sell you services when all you want is for them to quit putting false or misleading information out there! For those that dont know this! Just because you found it on the internet doesn't make it correct!

Like so many Business's we are currently struggling to keep a full staff! Currently we have been closing our afternoon/evening shift during the week. Mon- Tue-Wed we will be closed at 4 pm! On that note we are actively Hiring for all positions, we provide training, our pay scale is very competitive! We are very flexible with scheduling we can offer you from 1-5 shifts a week if you looking for Full time or just a part time job!

Happy Thanksgiving! For the last 9 years my wife and I have been preparing a big feast at the Cafe for our employees and regulars who don't have family in the area to share the holiday with! Sadly with the Covid this year we have scaled things down this year, we will still be preparing dinner for the handful of regulars, the Café is closed but we will invite them in and provide them with a Thanksgiving feast while maintaining the guidelines we have had to operate under! I would like to express my gratitude to all of the Customers and Employees that have continued to support the Café thru the last 8 months. We are thankful for the amazing community that has shown so much compassion and support for the business's in our city, and the patience we have all had to display with the Covid restrictions! We pray that you will all have a safe and happy Holiday, God bless all of you!

We will be opening for in house dining on Monday the 18th, as with many other restaurants we are having to make changes to the facility to meet the new guidelines! On a separate note we have made the decision to not involve ourselves with DoorDash and GrubHub, We understand many of you enjoy the delivery service which could actually work well for all of us, In our situation they are very time consuming for our staff as they are a third party trying to place orders, if we don't have exactly what the customer is wanting we get put on hold while they resolve the issue, its very time consuming. The primary reason we have chose to not do business with them on more than one occasion when they go to pay their cards get declined, they go out to their vehicles presumably to resolve the issue or get a different card, and they leave! We can not afford to prepare food just to throw it in the trash! We are excited to get the doors open and anxious to see how it works with the restrictions in place, Be safe and have a great day!

A big thank you for all of you who have been using our curbside services, I suggested to my wife we take a step back to the past and start carhop service, the slowest part of curbside is placing the order over the phone, so if you pull in if someone don't come out right awayHonnk your horn they will bring a menu and take your order, relax in your car catch up on your social media of choice and they will bring your food out! Unlike traditional Carhops we wont be having anyone on roller skates or be hanging a tray off your window! lol We look forward to opening the dining room soon, we will not expect customers to be wearing mask as that is kind of ridiculous in a restaurant, however our staff will be wearing Mask and gloves along with sanitizing the tables and seating between customers, we will adhere to the guidelines set out by the Health department and we would like to ask any who are not feeling well to please stay home or order togo! All of us are very tired of this whole situation dealing with the virus. we Will do everything we can to keep both our employees and customers safe!

We are Changing the Hours for Curbside, 8 am to 10 pm! A big thank you to all of you for your support! We appreciate your support! we will continue to expand hours as demand dictates! To place your orders pleases call 208-853-1801, once again we can not have any one in the Café until the orders are lifted! We have repainted the Exterior of the building and have done quite a bit of work inside as well,we look forward to sharing these changes with all of you!

We are happy to say we will be starting Curbside Tomorrow 5/4/20! we will be operating from 7am to 8 pm 7 days a week for now! Orders will need to be placed by phone 208-853-1801 you will need your card info to place an order, the waitstaff will bring your order and receipt out to you! We are hopeful that we will be able to start in house dining depending on the government orders on the 16th! We have submitted our operation plans to the health Dept Until then we will not be allowing anyone but employees into the Café, We will be taking all measures to ensure your safety! We look forward to getting back on track!

We will be closing as per the order by the Governor and the Mayor!
Right now it is a 30 day period! As tough as it is to just shut our doors we believe it is the best chance we all have to do our part to contain the Virus!
Fortunately no one we know has been affected, I would like to encourage all of you to take every precaution! limit contact with others, practice social distancing, and most importantly if you are not feeling well call your doctor, get tested and please stay home!
If we all do as much as possible to stop this the sooner we can hopefully put this behind us! Hopefully they will develop a vaccine for this! Sending our prayers and love to all who may be affected by this!

The older we get it seems the faster time goes by! here we are Thanksgiving is just days away and I am wondering where did the year go? We would like to thank all our good friends/customers and family that have made this year such a delight! we will be closed for Thanksgiving so our employees can enjoy the day with family and friends. We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the people you love.

We will be closed Monday July 1st and will re-open Friday July 5th at 6:00 am for our annual repair and deep cleaning party! Beginning in 2011 when we purchased the café we remove all the equipment for steam cleaning and address repairs to the building. Our efforts have paid off The health inspector told us last year that while we have one of the oldest kitchens in Boise we are one of the cleanest! Have a safe and Happy Fourth!

We recently received letters from ACHD, as most of you know the widening of State St. is going to happen, at this time we are not 100% sure how this will impact us. The plans we seen will put the new road and sidewalks right at our front door! We have been looking for a new location to purchase on a street with the volume of traffic and number of residents close by. So far everything out there is for Lease and would need a lot of work to fit our needs! No place will ever have the history and character of this old Truck Stop, she is definitely one of a kind and holds so many memories for so many of us! We will also look at how we could possibly re-configure this property to provide the parking we need for the Café! May of 2020 will mark 45 years our family has been serving the community, its unfortunate for us the City and County did such a poor job of managing the Growth in our area. We will remain positive about this and continue to do our best to provide our customers with a great dining experience!

Our sign out front was hit by a delivery truck, we are getting it fixed in the meantime the power was ripped out so our lights on the sign are not working! Just look for the annoying neon open signs in the window!😂

Hot summer nights are here,come in and beat the heat with some ice cream! Milkshakes and scone sundaes will do that nicely!😋

We seldom have time to give thanks to the people in our lives that make each day better! To all of our customers and employees we would like you all to know how much we appreciate everything you do for the café and its success!

Shortly after my parents took over the café back in 1975 they decided to stay open 24 hours, back then we had several great party bars in the area, The Big Pine,HiHo,Turf Club, Gentle Bens,Shortys And Jimmy Jets 44 club many of them had house bands and the bar crowd was a wild and rowdy fun loving bunch, when we took over operations in 2011 most of those bars were long gone! We put the schedule back to 24 hours 6 days a week and have slowly been cutting back on those, Currently we were staying open 24 hours on the weekends for the handful of those that still made the trip out here in the wee hours of the night! At this time we are cutting those hours back as well! Our new hour are 6am to 1am Sunday thru Thursday and 6am to 2am Friday and Saturday! We would like to offer a thank you for those of you that have still been coming in on those shifts and express our sadness and apologies that we will no longer be open 24 hours! We have so many great memories of the fun loving people that would bring the party with them every night after the bars closed! Thank you so much for the many years of good times you brought to our little café!

The winter hours are sunday thru wednesday we open at 6;00AM and close at 11:pm.
From thursday morning at 6:am we are open 24 hours until we close sunday Night at 11:00 pm!

Thursday thru Saturday 24 hours!

We will be closing at 4pm sunday December 20th to enjoy a Christmas party with the employees,we will reopen monday at 6am! Thanksgiving,is such a great day to spend with good friends and family! As the day progressed we had several groups show up to share a great meal with the wonderful people that make up our extended family here at the cafe! Thank you all for the love and support!

Hey all you Coca-Cola fans, we will be selling the panels from the old Sign out front! Last week the distributor called and informed us they were coming to get the pop coolers out of here since we no longer buy product from them! We offered to buy the coolers from them as they are well used and we would give a fair price, they refused and stuck to their guns, that if we didn't buy from them at about twice the price we can get the same product from Winco they wanted their coolers! Fair enough, however we now need to get new coolers and since coke don't want to be reasonable we see no reason to continue giving them free advertising! We are selling just the panels as we will have new panels made for the sign frame! we figure the money we get for these antique panels in pristine condition will offset the cost of the new coolers!
