Idaho State Bowhunters
ISB is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to protect and improve Idaho's wildlife heritage of bowhunting for present and future and generations.
The greatest benefit to bowhunters ISB can offer is a tremendous effort to maintain and enhance the bowhunting opportunities we now enjoy in Idaho. ISB is the voice of Idaho's archers. We will focus our attention on what will be done now and in the future to protect and improve bowhunting opportunities in Idaho. There will be battles to fight. Some will be small and simple, and others will decide
We are closely watching the situation with the Wapiti Fire, and I'm aware that we will have to discuss where to hold the jamboree, and it will be figured out. Right now, I'm going to ask that you all keep the town of Stanley in your thoughts and prayers. They need it right now.
These are the pictures taken when they were treating down E range. When they arrived, it wasn't smoking still, but it was hot to touch. They dumped water on it and covered it with dirt to ensure it was safely out, but as you can see, this was very nearly another situation of having that beautiful area going up in flames. Disappointed and mad doesn't even begin to describe how I feel, I'm completely pi**ed and if I catch whoever did this, or ANYONE smoking on the ranges or showing this type of disregard, I will end your relationship with ISB and call you or publicly. Let's all be adults here and make good choices.
I am still waiting to get the pictures from the young man that was out helping with E range and had the pictures on his phone of the damage from a cigarette that was dropped on the range and could have had devastating results in another fire that would ultimately been the end of ISB completely and the end of our yearly jamboree. If you have those photos, please share them so we can show our members what one of our participants did and how close we came to having all of this come to an end.
I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for coming out and joining us for the 2024 Jamboree, it was great to see all of you and to get to meet so many new people. I am certainly excited to prepare for another great one next year and look forward to seeing you all again. It was definitely a hot one and I hope everyone of you stayed hydrated and had as much fun as I did. I feel so grateful the smoke wasn't as bad as I had feared it might be and also to know the US Forest Service was there if we needed them, even with the battle they had going on at Redfish. I am going to start posting the competition scores and I am still waiting on the pictures to make their way to me from Saturday winners. Congrats to all of you and thank you again.
Please note!!! I just received notice this shoot has been canceled.

CENTRAL IDAHO MOVES TO VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER
Due to weather and fuel conditions, the Central Idaho Dispatch Zone, which includes the Salmon-Challis National Forest, has moved to Very High Fire Danger. In Very High fire danger, fires can start from most causes and spread rapidly. Small fires can quickly become large fires and exhibit extreme fire intensity. These fires can be difficult to control and will often become much larger and longer-lasting fires.
Forest officials are asking the public to be extremely careful when camping and to remember that it’s your job and responsibility to properly maintain and extinguish all campfires.
Here are some tips:
• Never leave a campfire unattended. Always add water, stir it, and make sure all embers are out. If it’s too hot to touch, it’s too hot to leave!
• Always use a campfire ring or fire pan when building a campfire.
• Recreational shooting? Take precautions! Never shoot into dry vegetation and always make sure you’re shooting in a safe location. Be aware that shooting of exploding targets is not allowed on National Forest System lands in the Intermountain Region (http://bit.ly/r4202001).
• Refrain from smoking in wooded, grassy, or brushy areas. Make sure your cigarette is fully extinguished before leaving the area.
• Fireworks are illegal on public lands: every forest, every campsite, every day. Never light fireworks in the woods.
• Ensure your vehicle is properly maintained, with nothing dragging on the ground. A loose safety chain or dangling muffler can send a shower of sparks into dry vegetation.
• Keep vehicles off dry grass. The catalytic converter may contact the vegetation and start a fire.
• Always carry a shovel and fire extinguisher.
• Know before you go. Always check with your local Ranger Station prior to your trip to get the most up to date information on fire danger and fire restrictions for the area.
• It is best to preplan your route and share that information with people that are not on the hike with you. Having predetermined check-in points with reliable methods of communication is critical to let your friends and family know where you are should someone need to contact you.
• Be cautious out there! Should you start a wildfire, even if it’s by accident, you could be held liable for damages and firefighting costs. Need to report a wildfire? Please call Central Idaho Dispatch Center at 208-756-5157 or 911 as soon as possible.
For current conditions call the Public Lands Center in Salmon at 208-756-5100 or call a local Ranger District office.
