Next Generation Organics
In 1967 Grandma and Grandpa sold the farm on Gopher K**b and "moved to town". In 2005 we bought their place in town and started turnig it into a "farm".
As a busy small organic family farm, retail sales are available at The Boise Farmer's Market only.
Sale today!
Veggies on sale, free pansies, and Sadie is selling Snapdragons at the market! πͺ΄
All I can really say is WOW! April gets pretty overwhelming, and the start of May is absolutely exhausting, but Mothers Day weekend always reminds me how lucky we are. Thank you for showing up today, and thank you for letting our plants be a part of your gardens. πππ We still have lots of plants left for next week, but no complaining allowed if you show up at 10 and the Sungolds are already sold out. ππ -Elayne
Quick greenhouse checkin on a super busy day. So. Many. Plants! They are happy the sun finally came out. See you at the market tomorrow.π
We're putting covers on all the frost tender babies tonight. Cover your maters! We've got some chilly temps this week.

We truly believe in the Boise Farmers Market and the positive impact it has on our community. Funding from Idaho Gives makes so many things possible while keeping vendor fees manageable for all the hard working ranchers, farmers, and local food producers.

The birth of a new greenhouse. The minute you stretch plastic over the metal frame, you have created a greenhouse.
This "new" space is extra special. We combined two smaller greenhouse that I was gifted by my mentor, Beth Rasgorshek. I learned how to turn seeds into healthy plants under these hoops for about 5 seasons, while starting our own farm. I will be forever grateful for the gift of knowledge that was shared on her farm.
I've been getting a lot of requests for warm season flowers. While some flowers, like this pretty pansy, don't mind frost, others can't handle freezing temps. I don't bring ZINNIA, NASTURTIUM, and MARIGOLDS until we have warmer temps. * This is a great reminder that just because you saw something for sale doesn't mean it's time to plant. Some places love to sell you plants twice, I want you to be successful, so I get to see you again next spring. -Elayne
We're sending a big pile of early tomatoes off to the stores today. With this delivery, we will have sold 1/3 of the early tomatoes in just one week! If you missed them at the market last week, we will still have all the varieties available on Saturday. Some of the favorites may start to sell out sooner rather than later. You've been warned. π
GALLON TOMATO ALERT!!! It's early, really early for tomatoes. If you are up for a challenge, you could be rewarded with the first garden tomatoes in your neighborhood.
I have 14 varieties of early tomatoes from juicy heirlooms like the sweet, pink beefsteak Gregori's Altai to the super tasty littleSungold gems.
See you tomorrow at 9-1

The big hoop house is nearly full. Pulling the frost blankets off the early tomatoes is one of my favorite parts of the morning. Look at that sassy Stupice showing off with its early blooms. π
Bart stopped for this cute Boreal chorus frog and it decided it wanted a ride. πΈ π
In 16 years, this is the first time I remember snow at the first market. I'll take snow over wind any day! Thanks to everyone that came out anyway. We had fun seeing everyone.
We got a little carried away with all the lettuce. Lots of our favorite varieties went into 6pks. We did single variety, as well as a bunch of fun mixes. I've already harvested my first spring salad, who else is ready? π
Woop woop, market prep! Check out these lettuce bowls. You could be harvesting salad in no time, even if you don't have a garden bed ready. We are excited to see everyone tomorrow. π
That's more like it...π
This "Cobweb" hen & chicks has so many babies, it makes me think of a wolf spider mama with her babies on her back. π· πΈ π· πΈ π
By the end of the day, we're 90% repaired. Every farm needs a Bart! Thanks to his dad Steve and Grandpa Clyde for teaching him how to get scrappy and make it work. We are grateful for all the offers of help, especially Tim and Mike from for checking on us and my bud Soraya from for bringing us something warm to eat at the end of an exhausting day. π₯°
Now, back to planting...
We love to post baby plant pics-all toasty warm in the greenhouse. The reality is sometimes much different. βΉοΈ Fortunately, we hadn't filled this one up with the gallon tomatoes yet, and the structure is fine. Unfortunately new plastic isn't cheap and time to put it on is very limited.
Basil babies. I can't wait to pot these up! Mmmmmmm...
The first plant delivery of the season is headed out to stores today. Woop woop! We can't wait to see everyone at the first market in April, but until then, show the co-op some love. πππ
My helper just turned 6! Can you believe it?! ππ
This one is full! It's time to get the big hoop house ready for plants.
15 years of filling trays outside in the cold and wind will really make you appreciate the day you get the flat filler set up INSIDE- Yah buddy!
We're getting plants ready for the popup market Tomorrow from 11-12. 1500 Shoreline Dr. (The market lot)
Here's the list so far:
Spinach, arugula, bok choy, mustard mix, tatsoi, mizuna, Golden Frills and Ruby Streaks spicy mustards, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, chard, peas, and herbs.

Salad bar, greenhouse style. π I'm making lettuce mix packs this morning. π₯
These babies will be coming to market in April, but we will be at the pop-up market THIS Saturday with a bunch of baby greens if you're ready to get your own salad bar planted.
We got hit with 50 mph winds and pea size hail last night. Thankfully, there are no damages on the farm. The greens are happy they had shelter.π Who else got hit last night?βοΈπ¬
