Here’s a glimpse of our March Brigade to East Panama! We were able to set up a clinic in the Platanilla community that provided doctor consultations, dental services, medications, a kids and an adult charla on Oral Hygiene. With the help of our doctors, the program coordinators, and the Global Brigades staff we were able to see over 300 patients!! In the last day, we worked alongside leaders of the Ipeti Embera community to build latrines for the Public Health Project. The locals in the community provided a cultural day and showed us traditional dances and artisan works of art!!! Platanilla and Ipeti Embera community- Thank you for welcoming us with open arms and allowing us to work and learn with you!!!

Check out the impact that each of Global Brigades' chapters have had on their partner communities abroad! Global Medical Brigades specifically, has been able to see 122,167 patients at their mobile clinics hosted in 2016.

Our Medical Brigade chapter at Northeastern University has traveled to Panama for the past two years of being active on campus.

In 2016, we were partnered with Nuevo Emperador for our clinic days, and Las Delicias for our public health WASH project. During the clinic days in Nuevo Emperador, we saw over 700 patients over the course of three days. This past Spring Break, we traveled to the Darien Region in East Panama, to Platanilla for our clinic days, and Ipeti Embera for our public health WASH project. In Platanilla, we saw over 300 patients over the three days.

Beyond these numbers are the things that are immeasurable - health, security, and happiness - the parts of life that make up quality of living. Because our chapter is strongly rooted in the value that health is a human right, we will continue to strive towards improving our chapter by expanding our education and awareness efforts, and by supporting students looking to start up other Global Brigades chapters.

Be sure to check out globalbrigades.org for more information on how to get involved, or reach out to us via email if you'd like to voice your interest for the next year!
