We are excited to once again be a part of 's annual Halloween concert on Wednesday, October 30th. Entitled 'Bewitching,' this will be a spine-tingling evening at Macky Auditorium, filled with haunting melodies and thrilling orchestral arrangements, perfect for all ages! Audiences will be treated to a captivating mix of eerie classics and beloved film scores that will leave you spellbound, from Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast, This Is Halloween, and more. Woodsongs will be there providing an instrument petting zoo, giving costumed youngsters a chance to try their hand at playing an instrument! We get lots of questions from folks who test out our 1966 Martin D-28 and discover the rattlesnake rattle inside. Harkening to tradition, keeping a rattle in an instrument not only wards off evil spirits and welcomes good juju (especially on a full moon!), but the rattle itself can keep dust from collecting, as well as prevent vermin & spiders from nesting up inside. Some people even like the rattle sound itself!

It was World Singing Day yesterday, with 100s gathered on the Pearl Street Mall. A fine day to lift up our voices in song!

Did you know that Boulder's own company once made mandolins? As shown in this poster from our original Woodsongs location, they did! Overseen and initiated by renowned luthier, Mike Kemnitzer, back in the early 1970s, the mandolin venture was a fun, albeit limited experiment for OME. While it didn't take off for OME, Kemnitzer went on to fame as the founder of Nugget Mandolins. This beautiful and rare A-style OME mandolin is here on consignment, and is in remarkably good condition. Check out this wonderful little piece of Boulder/mandolin history!

Woodsongs' own Julia remarked how heavy this '32 Gibson conversion banjo is, and it got us wondering: what is the heaviest instrument in the shop? After getting out the scale, we determined this banjo is officially the heaviest instrument, tied with a '95 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Any guesses as to how much it weighs?

Today is the launch day for 's new John Mayer Silver Slinky signature electric guitar strings! Clockwise, from upper left, we have an immaculate Flatiron A5-1 from 1985, a new Martin D-18 Satin, a (nearly) mint Fender Deluxe Reverb amplifier, a big beautiful Taylor 618e from 2020, an Ibanez SDGR SR1800 5-string electric bass, and a fantastic Selmer Mark VI from 1972. You know an instrument is special when you're constantly surrounded by amazing guitars and it still makes you swoon. This Martin D-28 from 1966 is just such an instrument. Featuring a solid spruce top and solid Brazilian rosewood back & sides, this classic dreadnought explodes with punch and clarity. Snowflake fret markers on a neck which was reset about ten years ago, making it straight as an arrow. Original tuners and bridge were replaced, though are included in the case. We've also left in the rattlesnake rattle, placed there by the original owner in the tradition of warding off vermin, preventing dust buildup and for welcome good juju. Aside from some expected signs of normal wear, this guitar is rock solid with tons of life left. Must see to fully appreciate!

The 52nd Annual RockyGrass Festival comes to Lyons this weekend, and Woodsongs is honored to be a part of it! We'll have musical accessories & books available at the company store, plus we'll be running a musical instrument 'petting zoo,' giving youngsters a chance to try their hand at numerous instruments. We are also co-running the tent, showcasing some fantastic guitars by the legendary company. If you're up there experiencing this incredible festival, stop by and say hi!

Check out the newest addition to our mandolin line! This beautiful F-style comes by way of the Tailwater company, based right here in Boulder, Colorado. The TW-F5 shown here features a solid European spruce top, solid maple back & sides, wood pickguard, hybrid varnish gloss lacquer and a hardshell case.
