Heck yeah we got in the water!!

Not pictured: the 7 lbs of sand I had hiding in my clothing. Florida glitter is beach sand. It gets everywhere. WORTH IT!

Full transparency, I went into last nights shoot committed to taking a lot of silhouettes.

…and then I also took a lighter version with different settings bc I’m indecisive like that.

…and I’m having the hardest time choosing favorites bc I keep gravitating to the lighter version that I shoot the vast majority of the time.

There is something extra magical about growing up in and on our beaches!

My favorite images from all of my sessions are when their eyes light up and they get to be their most authentic selves. That’s the beauty I aim to capture!! The sunsets will be epic, they always are. What makes my sessions set apart is the work I do to make sure that the realness is captured! Yes, even toddlers. Especially toddlers!

Summer beach sessions are off to a beautiful start!! Here’s a fave image from a fave family from the fall! I have a special place in my heart for my families that I see regularly! Watching your kiddos grow and bloom is a special heart glimmer!

Bundled baby boy on a beach!! 😍

This is what I wanted for Mother’s Day. I wanted an updated photo of “the reasons I wanted to learn photography in the first place” note: I didn’t want to learn it in order to start a business! Nope, not at all. When Carter was born, I was SO in love with this little creature we’d made that there was no way I could just let all the little moments of him go undocumented. Clearly, he was the best baby ever. Something in my intuition knew that even when it felt hard, it was beautiful at the same time. The presence of beauty doesn’t mean the absence of frustration. They live there at the same time.

If you swipe and see the sibling photo I took in 2013 (it’s a fave), you’ll see an adorable capture. But how that time in life felt mostly? It didn’t feel beautiful at all times.

Both/and, Mamas. It’s the key to your sanity. Accepting the beauty and the broken. And those aren’t separate things. It’s all swirled together.

I’ve struggled with social media so much because it doesn’t give a lot of opportunities for nuance. So, I’ve embraced just showing up messy. I can’t do “perfectionism” anymore. I choose the very real life I’m making with them!

“The decoy baby”, “the reason you have another”, “thing 1”, “tweedle dee”, “carter-man”, and most definitely “cartimus prime”, and “the one that made me a mom”.

He’s 16. I don’t have enough time left on the clock with him. Where can I get more time? Are there time outs? I distinctly remember begging him to hurry up (his whole life… he was 12 days overdue, even). And now I’m begging for it all to slow down.

They are besties. Lu adores her whole family, but Carter is her fave kid.
