"Energy CapEx — Renewables vs Oil & Gas: This is an interesting chart with respect to commodity markets, energy security, and the energy transition…perhaps some of the most important issues of our time. ¶ It shows the capex-to-assets ratio for the global renewable energy sector, and the traditional energy sector (Oil & Gas ) — in other words, a standardized way of tracking the pace of capital expenditures (i.e. investment in productive capacity)."

"Compressor stations are an integral part of the natural gas pipeline network that moves natural gas from individual producing well sites to end users. As natural gas moves through a pipeline, distance, friction, and elevation differences slow the movement of the gas, and reduce pressure. Compressor stations are placed strategically within the gathering and transportation pipeline network to help maintain the pressure and flow of gas to market." The next time you see a garbage truck, take a moment to appreciate the engineering that went into its design. Most people don't realize it, but garbage trucks are actually quite complex machines. For example, did you know that the hydraulic system is crucial for its operation? The stainless steel tubing and fuel line are essential for carrying the high-pressure fluid that powers the truck's lifting mechanism. Without this system, garbage trucks would be a lot less efficient—and a lot more smelly! So the next time you see one of these humble vehicles trundling down the street, give a silent thanks for the skilled engineers who designed it. 🙌

Familiar with Power-to-X?
"Power-to-X is an umbrella term for a number of conversion, storage and reconversion pathways that use surplus electric power from renewable energy, typically solar and wind. “X” stands for the type of energy into which the electricity surplus is being converted. These are generally gases, liquids or heat."

McKinsey & Company provide an exceptional overview of what the CHIPS and Science Act entails. (Check out the charts too!)
https://mck.co/3VAZnOs
"Over the past 18 months, semiconductor shortages have been a key aspect of global supply chain pressures. The United States makes only 12% of the world’s semiconductors, compared with 37% in the 1990s. Many U.S. firms are dependent on chips made abroad, and the fragility of those supply chains has been laid bare over the past 18 months. Moreover, McKinsey research estimates that worldwide demand will keep growing, with semiconductors poised to become a $1 trillion industry by the end of the decade."

Before Intel developed the Cryogenic Wafer Prober, it would take months, in a low-temperature dilution refrigerator, for each quantum processor to be tested. Now with the cryoprober, researchers can test qubits (the basic units of information in a quantum computer) on 300mm silicon wafers down to temperatures of a few kelvins —just a hair above absolute zero🥶—and receive results in about an hour.
"Intel’s cryoprober is critical in the company’s ongoing quantum computing research. The promise of quantum computing is to tackle enormously complex problems that are beyond even the reach of today’s most powerful supercomputers." 🦸♂️ 💻 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/newsroom/news/intels-cryoprober-quantum-research.html .fbm0r

Help or hinder the domestic supply chain? What's your take?
CEO of ExxonMobil, Darren Woods, said that “Continuing current Gulf Coast exports is essential to efficiently rebalance markets—particularly with diverted Russian supplies.
