Before Goodwill, Jalen's educational environment just never seemed to be the right fit for him, causing him to drop out of high school and attempt the HiSET twice.

Once his mom heard about Goodwill's HiSET program through our social media, he quickly signed up, and it was just the environment he needed.

Jalen was well prepared and passed through the curriculum with little assistance, proving that he is more than capable of achieving anything as long as the environment is built for him to succeed. Now that he's completed his degree requirements, he plans to join the Air Force by the end of 2024!

Jalen, we're so proud of your hard work and perseverance, and we can't wait to see where your journey takes you! Thank you in advance for your service and know that we're always here to help.

Everett felt driven to attain his high school equivalency credentials, and after persevering over many months, he has now completed his degree requirements and will be entering into the linemen program at South Louisiana Community College in the spring!

Our adult education instructor Janet loves to joke that Everett's journey was like going with his grandma to school every week, and they made the best of every education session they had!

Everett, we are so proud of you and all your hard work! We wish you the best in the linemen program and look forward to seeing what you accomplish next - you deserve this.

"I love working at Goodwill" was one of the many sentimental things said at our Employee Appreciation lunch in Broussard🫶

While there was great food, music, and people like always, this event had a very emotional twist when our team members went around and talked about what they love about Goodwill. So many heartwarming words were spoken, and you could just feel the love everyone in the Goodwill family shares for each other and our local community.
