Foster Fact Friday:

According to the National Foster Youth Iniative, there is less than a 3% chance for children who have aged out of foster care to earn a college degree at any point in their life.

This statistic highlights the need for support and resources for youth who are closed to aging out of the foster care system.

One of the services we offer is Educational Development we assist participants with applying for their FAFSA, preparing for their Hi-Set or ACT, and allow them to visit multiple campuses to make the right decisions for their future.

We are excited to announce our Skills For Life: Life Prep Course for Foster Youth. The Life Prep sessions are exclusively for youth currently in the foster care system or who have aged out and are between the ages of 16 and 21.

The session will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 10am - 2pm. Each topic will be taught be subject matter experts from the community. The cost is FREE and lunch will be provided. Every participant will receive a book, journal, and gift card.

We had an awesome time at our teen camp a few weeks ago. Participants learned how to build healthy relationships, healthy boundaries, personality profiles, and so much more. Thank you Safe Havyn Educational Center for providing excellent service to our 16-17 year old teens. Looking forward to our continued partnership.

There are still spots available for our Teen Health Education Kickback on June 3rd and 4th. This event is for teens ages 16 & 17, and is a great way to start the summer. They will learn to value and love themselves, how to develop healthy relationships, plan for the future, and sexual health and awareness.

Teen Camp lookback. So much fun!

We are excited to partner once again with Safe Havynn Education Center! We are hosting a two-day event for teens ages 16 and 17. The Kickback will be held on June 3rd and 4th, 2022. Teens will learn to value and love themselves, how to develop healthy relationships, plan for the future, and sexual health and awareness.

Today, we celebrate the five amazing women who serve on our Board of Directors. Without them, we would not be able to accomplish our mission! Thank you each for all you do for our organization.

All of us at The Family Connection wish you a happy and prosperous New Year. 2021 has been a great year for us!

First, we want to thank BBR Creative for choosing our organization for the 2021 CreateAthon. Thank you also to Business Coach Jeff Martin for helping us put together a clear message for 2022.

Secondly, our Life Skills classes were held in the last quarter of the year. Each session was taught by a member of our Board of Directors. With much excitement, we were able to gather donations for one of our students. One of our board members has volunteered to be their mentor as they begin college in the Fall. This student was also able to attain a job at the end of the six weeks course. Way to go!

Our entire team at The Family Connection would like to wish you a Very Merry Christmas! We hope that you're day was filled with peace and joy.

On SOLA Giving Day 2021, we raised a total of $1,299! Even though we fell short of our $2,000 goal, we more than doubled our total from 2020. Thanks to everyone who gave, shared our stories, and supported us in other ways.

We've been having meetings with different individuals in the community and putting the finishing touches our Life Skills curriculum. The classes will begin in next month!
