The Bryan ISD Education Foundation was founded to foster continuous improvement of the Bryan ISD by providing financial support and other resources for district-wide programs aimed at improving student academic achievement.

Yesterday was an incredible day! Not only did we love attending the Bryan ISD 2024 Convocation, but we, the Bryan ISD Education Foundation, had the privilege of giving away $5,000 to Bryan ISD employees!
A raffle ticket was placed under every seat at Convocation, giving each employee a chance to win. During the program, we drew 10 lucky winners who each received $500 in cash!
A special thank you to Mitch and Donna Moorehead with ACME Glass who graciously provided this prize money. Awarding our Bryan ISD employees is truly an honor! We wish each and every staff member the best of luck this week as they begin the 2024-2025 school year!
Meet Us on Monday!
Sarah Braden is the Executive Director of the Education Foundation. With six years experience running her own nonprofit, Our Terminal, Sarah has insight and enthusiasm for fundraising and organizational management. She obtained a Bachelor of Education from Texas A&M University and completed a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from the Bush School of Government and Public Service. Sarah is married to Michael, a BHS alumni, and together they have three daughters - one a sophomore at Texas A&M and two who currently attend Bryan High School.
Shelley is a Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer at Prosperity Bank. She is graduate of BISD and has had children in Bowen, Sam Rayburn and BHS. She has lived in Bryan for 25 years and is in her 3rd year on the board.

In the spring, we provided an opportunity at every Bryan ISD campus for an employee to win TWO Hometown Reunion tickets. Today, get to know Bryan ISD Education Foundation board members, Bless Stennis and Brittany McBride.
Bless is the local coordinator for Junior Achievement Brazos Valley. She has lived in Bryan for over 30 years and has three children, two currently at Sam Houston and one at SFA. Bless is in her second year of board service.
Brittany is a graduate of Bryan ISD and has lived in this community for 40 years. She has three daughters - two at Bryan High and one at Sam Rayburn. This is Brittany's second year serving on the Foundation's board and also has done an amazing job being the Events Committee Chair!

As we continue to get to know our Bryan ISD Education Foundation board members throughout the summer, we are thrilled for you to meet board members, Cynthia Wicht and Joe Hegwood.
Cynthia is a service manager at Wells Fargo bank and is in her 4th year of board service. Cynthia is a graduate of Bryan ISD and has sent her children through Sam Houston, Sam Rayburn and Bryan High School. She is a lifetime resident of Bryan.
Joe has lived in Bryan for the last 18 years. He worked for the City of Bryan and Bryan Texas Utilities as the Chief Financial Officer.
We value their work and commitment!

In October of this past year, the Bryan ISD Education Foundation took its Prize Patrol to all Bryan ISD campuses to deliver a total of $100,000 in teacher grants!! As we continue to take a look at how some grant winners used their grant money, we wanted to share with you how they are making a difference. Take a look!
Bryan High School culinary teacher, Tenika Williams received a full grant that she used to purchase new KitchenAid mixers for each kitchen in her classroom, cake decorating kits for each kitchen, and 3 sets of cookie cutters. Having adequate and up to date equipment allowed her students to be successful in local and state competitions as well as helping prepare desserts for district catering events.
Ms. William's favorite part about working in Bryan ISD "is the support from my admin staff as well as the Education Foundation...With their support, I can supply my students with engaging lessons that they can successfully use forever!"

As we continue to get to know members of the Bryan ISD Education Foundation Board, let's meet Dr. Sara Ptomey and Ana-Lisa Liotta.
Ana-Lisa Liotta is a senior internal auditor in the Texas A&M University Systems. She has had children go through Sam Houston, Johnson, Sam Rayburn, SFA and BHS. She is a graduate of BHS and this is her second year on the board.
Dr. Sara Ptomey has called Bryan, TX home for the last 5 years and she is a former Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in Aldine ISD. This is her first year serving on the board.
We appreciate their commitment and support of Bryan ISD!

Library Media Specialist, Julie Bowman, from Kemp-Carver Elementary in Bryan ISD, used her grant money to purchase a book vending machine for the school. The purpose of the vending machine is to support positive behavior and good work ethic among students, as they are able to earn tokens to purchase a book from the vending machine!
Ms. Bowman's favorite part about working in Bryan ISD is the relationships built between students, staff, and the community!

Teacher, Ashoka Fernando, from Long Intermediate School in Bryan ISD, used her grant money to buy LabQuest Mini-Equipments. This equipment helped her students tremendously, as it was helpful for understanding the real-world relevance of force, speed, and graphing principals. Ms. Fernando said that the best part about working in Bryan ISD is how "as a team, we all have a shared sense of purpose, creating unity, and motivation". She also "feels blessed to be apart of Bryan ISD"!
We love seeing how our grant money has made a difference in classrooms all across the district!
