Today we are celebrating . Founded by in 2020, March 2nd is an annual reminder that it’s ok to prioritize yourself. This isn’t just a one-day thing, though. It’s a conversation starter meant to encourage dialogue that disrupts the stigma surrounding mental health. P.S. We’re celebrating extra hard this year because we were selected to receive grant funding from The Hollister Confidence Project to continue our work in building healthier communities for young people!

March 2nd is World Teen Mental Wellness Day, putting the spotlight on the problems affecting teenagers and their families struggling to offer help and understand their loved ones’ challenges. Globally, one in seven 10-19-year-olds experiences a mental disorder, accounting for 13% of the global burden of disease in this age group.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that half of all mental health issues start by the time a child reaches the age of 14. Good mental health is an essential part of healthy adolescent development; it helps young people build positive social, emotional, thinking and communication skills and behaviors. It also lays the foundation for better mental health and wellbeing later in life.

Today, BPS Community Schools, would like to showcase the work of our CBO partner, BestSelf Behavioral Health . This long-time partnership has been a wonderful addition to our Community Schools. Through their innovative programming, passion to make a difference, and hard work, BestSelf has seen phenomenal results in the many schools they currently partner with.

BestSelf serves as the CBO for #50, #59/59A, #89, #93, #99, #198, #206, #301, #309, and the entire Bennett Campus. Since October, there have been over 5,300 participants in their collective Saturday Academies!

Thank you to Kim Luce and the entire team at BestSelf for making this such a fruitful partnership!
