Holy Spirit Parish

As many of you already know, Father Chris will be leaving the Catholic Community of Buffalo, North family of parishes on January 15th as he moves on to the Olean family of parishes. We invite you to join us in the St. Mark School Gym following the 4:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, January 6th for a farewell party. All parishioners are welcome to join us. There will be food, drinks and some fun for the kids.

If you are planning on coming, please RSVP using below link so we can gauge how much food to have. (If you have RSVP'd already at Mass this weekend, you do not need to fill out the online form.)

ICYMI: Join us tonight at at 6:30 p.m., Assumption Buffalo will host an Advent Taizé Prayer Service, a simple, meditative service of readings and music with subdued lighting calling us to dwell deeply in Christ’s presence. The Taizé community in France is an ecumenical Christian monastic home to over one hundred brothers from about 30 countries around the world.

This Sunday, December 10th, the Free Spirits Social Club is sponsoring a Bake Sale! After the 11:00 a.m. Mass in the Church Foyer you can find lots of yummy choices reasonably priced, so don't forget your cash.

🛎REMINDER: All giving tree item are due back to Holy Spirit by 🗓Sunday, December 10th. This year’s recipients of our Holy Spirit Giving Tree are Courage for Carly Club (Roswell Park Cancer Center), Little Portion Friary, Disabled Veterans, Holy Spirit Food Pantry and Gerard Place.

This week we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. All are welcome to join us at tonight's Vigil Mass or at any of our parishes tomorrow as we celebrate the Eucharist!

Beginning this weekend, our Sunday Mass time will now be 11:00 a.m. and our Weekday Mass times will shift to 8:30 a.m. After Mass this week Sunday, December 3rd we will have Holy Spirit‘s Annual Breakfast with Santa so don't delay on getting your tickets!

Also join us on Wednesday, December 6th for An Evening of Choral Music - FREE Concert for a lovely evening of Christmas season music, showcasing musical talent from all six parishes in our CCBN Family.

‘Such a great background with the rivalry of Canisius—St. Joe’s’: 100th football match-up A long-standing high school football rivalry will be played out Saturday. A milestone game will be played as Canisius High School hosts St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute.

In addition to our 11:30 a.m. daily Mass, we will have a Bereavement Mass for those that have passed from our parish this past year.

Today we commemorate All Souls' Day. On this day, we remember the souls of all our loved ones and those with no one to pray for them.

Let us pray for their souls: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of All Saints, a holy day of obligation. All you holy men and women of God, pray for us!

Today the Church celebrates the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows!

Let us remember the Seven Sorrows of our Blessed Mother:
1. At the prophecy of Simeon: "You yourself shall be pierced with a sword - so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare." (Luke 2:35).
2. At the flight into Egypt; "Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt." (Mt 2:13).
3. Having lost the Holy Child at Jerusalem; "You see that your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow." (Luke 2:48).
4. Meeting Jesus on his way to Calvary
5. Standing at the foot of the Cross; "Near the cross of Jesus there stood His mother." (John 19:25).
6. Jesus being taken from the Cross
7. At the burial of Christ.

Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us! 🙏
