No prior experience necessary! Our talented instructors will guide you step-by-step to create your perfect partner’s portrait!

🌸MINI MAKERS MARKET🌸

We are so excited for the Mini Makers Market on Saturday, May 18th from 11am-1pm!! These young creatives have been working so hard over the last 9wks to create some really rad creations! We are so impressed at how much hard work they have put into creating their inventories!

It is being held at E.H. Butler Library on the Buff State campus. Parking Lot
I-32, 1300 Elmwood Ave, Buffalo, NY 14222. There is a map below that shows where the parking lot and entrance to the market are. It is graduation weekend but we have been told everything is happening on the other side of campus so we should be good!

Wax and Wane is hosting a 9 week-long series where each week your child will work on their art/inventory, learn how to price their work, set up a display/table to sell their work and at the end of it all they will participate in a Mini Makers Market.

-The Mini Makers Market will be open to the public so they can have the opportunity to sell their work! We have done a very successful 4 sessions so far and most kids make an average of $75-$200 each with some kids making over $300! This camp has become our most popular camp and we can't say enough amazing things about what it does for these young artists confidence in themselves and their creativity. By the end of every market there are so many happy tears being shed and so many high fives and smiles!

Even though I had no savings and my new job just cut my hours in half… I said OK what can I do because I do NOT want to get stuck back in that cycle. I refuse. This is my time finally. It’s like I had been waiting for someone to give me permission to let it all go and take the reins for a new way of life.

I realized in that moment I was the one I had to get permission from, I was the one stopping me. I just had to do it. Even if it meant starting with nothing, it was ok to shut my eyes and jump because the one thing I did know and learn through all the struggling I had been doing over the last 15 years, was that I was always able to figure it out. I was resilient as hell and determined as f**k, so good luck stopping me.

Every step of the way so far, quitting hasn’t been an option, have I maybe asked myself a time or two if I should quit, yes, but it always ended up very quickly being a nope. I am in this and want this so much!

No matter how hard this new journey has been it’s like I know deep in my gut it’s the one I’m meant for. I could’ve easily packed it all up and went back to two or three jobs so many times… what I knew and was comfortable knowing… but I’ve tasted freedom and control of my own life and I can’t ever go back to how it used to be.

I am so grateful for choosing me and will continue to choose me going forward. I am a better mother, friend, sister, daughter, partner; all because I choose me each and everyday.

I am also so grateful for the support this amazing city has given to my dream! The people I have met and supported, worked with, had coffee with, cocktails with, collaborated with.... y'all are WHY I do what I do! I am so stoked I get to bring y'all so many fun, creative, unique experiences and I can't wait to see what is coming!

Re-listening to this incredible convo I had with Sit Crooked, Talk Straight! It was so fun to talk with these ladies, they’re hysterical and def full of life! Hearing back my answers to their questions made me take a step back and pause. And not because I was embarrassed or thought I shouldn’t have said something I said.

But because when I heard my own story played back to me, it was surreal. Being taken back to moments and feelings that were really hard to relive. Moments in time where at the time I didn’t think it was possible to get out of the deep hole I was in, moments of pure vulnerability and fear.

And to now look around and see that I am surrounded by so many supportive, loving people, am building a business and life I am in so in love with. I never saw this coming.

I used to be the kind of person who thought I couldn’t be proud of my accomplishments. Tooting your own horn was wrong! It’s probably all that Catholic guilt built up in me 😂 well now that I’m a couple years in to my business and a few years into changing my ENTIRE life…TOOT TOOT BI***ES!!!

Let’s normalize being proud of where we are and all the fantastic things we have, and are going to accomplish! When I look around Buffalo, I’m in awe of the creativity, hard work, passion, sleepless nights to make dreams come true, determination and everything else I see all of my fellow creators and movers and shakers doing to push themselves and their dreams into reality. Businesses owned and run by so many phenomenal people!

I see you all. I hear you all. And I’m here to blow a f**kin horn for each and every one of you!!! Some of you I know very well and have been privileged to be on your path with you. Some of you I am just getting to know and again, feel privileged as hell for that!!

Well it’s official! The new tenant is coming in mid June so Wax and Wane will be moving out of this incredible space by June 11th!

I am by no means closing up shop! Until I find my bigger space, I have lined up classes in and around Buffalo throughout the summer, booked private events and parties and still have dates available for you to host an amazing creative class at your next summer or fall get together whether st your home or elsewhere!!!

We will be returning for kids entrepreneurial art camp this fall I promise!!! I have a back up space all ready to go incase a new studio isn’t ready yet!

Over the last year I’ve been getting DMs on a regular basis to meet for coffee and chat about owning a small business here in Buffalo and I can honestly say the three main women I am always suggesting are Amy Porterfield, Jenna Kutcher , and Cathy Heller .heller! Well, Nickel City Wax and Wane is hosting our Kid's Storybook Printmaking Series starting Saturday, April 8th! Your young creative will learn about what goes into creating their very own children's book and will be hand carving the illustrations. We will be working on creative writing skills, illustration skills, and printmaking.

This 7week long series will run through Saturday, May 20th where we will then host a public author's reading and book signing! We will make a handful of copies of each book to be available for sale on the day of the book readings! So not only are they working on creating their own children's books, but they will have the ability to sell them as well!
