Let's take a moment to tip our hats to our founder and pitmaster, Ryan.
Now, Ryan's journey didn't start out in BBQ. He kicked things off in the tech world but always wanted more. He started out by learning the ropes from local restaurant pros. Before long, he was dabblin' in smoking his own recipes right at home. You know what they say: where there’s smoke, there’s fire — and a heap of hungry BBQ lovers.
After finding success in pop-ups and catering gigs, Ryan put down his first roots at an incubator space on Chandler Street. It didn't take long for him to outgrow that spot, leading Southern Junction to its new home on Connecticut Street.
All along this smoky trail, Ryan’s unique blend of flavors has caught the nation’s eye, earning him a prestigious James Beard nomination for Best Emerging Chef.

Come on by and get a taste for yourself. We’re open Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4 – 9 p.m. and Sunday for brunch between 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Our signature Cardamom Cornbread is the bee’s knees.
Baked fresh daily, our take on cornbread is a little different, just like us. We use brown butter and aromatic cardamom. The end result is pretty great and has earned us a lot of fans over the years.

Now here we are five years later. Southern Junction is a full fledged restaurant, Lyd and I are in Chicago getting ready for the awards, representing Buffalo with our pals and former neighbors
Been lucky enough to share my story, and how this American dream came to be with so many through food and drink - let’s keep that going. Come cheer us and team Waxy on tonight.

It’s been an incredible few months since and put us on the national spotlight - and we love smoking up the delicious meats for all y’all 5x a week! But this weekend, we’re taking a breather.
Open tomorrow (5/25) from 4-9, then we’re gonna spend a few days with our families.
After Saturday service, we will be back to the grind Thursday 5/30 at 4 pm sharp(ish)

It’s been a while since an update b/c we’ve been firing on ALL cylinders over here - and it’s finally time to grow our team!

🍴 If you're really hungry, try try bellying up for a Tony’s Tower Challenge at Browns Cheesesteak. They’ll serve you a cheese steak with one pound of ribeye, a pound of veggies and three cheeses including American, provolone and whiz. “You have 33 minutes to eat it, and so far, no one has been able to conquer the tower," reports owner Michael Brown.
