Childbirth Classes and Doula Services in Western New York! Www.716birth.com
I believe God designed our bodies to give birth and that intervention is often not needed to have a safe and satisfying birth. I also believe that God gave us technology to assist us when complications arise, and it is up to us to use discernment about when and how to properly use technology to assist us with as little risk as possible to us and our unborn.
If you've ever thought about becoming a Doula, there are 2 local trainings coming up. One in Rochester in April, and one in Buffalo in November.

Student Testimonial:
"Tara is so knowledgeable, passionate, engaging, and welcoming. I enjoyed hearing about Tara's experiences and anecdotes- I felt like hearing her first-hand accounts (alongside the extensive medical data she explained) helped to humanize birth and reminded me that childbirth is both an everyday occurrence AND a unique experience for each mother and baby. Especially as a woman planning a homebirth, I felt really comfortable with Tara as she wasn't judgmental at all. In fact, Tara helped to reassure me that birth is a physiological event and in many cases, our bodies and our babies know what to do if we just give them the time to do so (obviously there are cases where medical intervention is necessary and lifesaving, and Tara stressed that as well). And while a lot of the class DID focus on hospital procedures, I felt like it was truly important information for me to know just in case things don't go according to my plan. But honestly, I really enjoyed the comfortable and personable atmosphere of the class. It was laidback yet informative. Tara made the classes interesting and enjoyable and I was kind of sad when the classes ended :) My husband and I used Thursday nights as a cute lil date night; we went out for dinner, went to class, and then discussed the info we learned on the drive home. Totally worth staying up past my bedtime (and that's saying something!!) I am feeling confident and capable and would absolutely recommend this class to any expecting parents."

Student testimonial:
Hi Tara! This is ***Student's Name*** from September's Childbirth Class. I just wanted to let you know that we had a beautiful and healthy baby boy yesterday. 8lbs 15 oz and 21" long. I was able to deliver him vaginally and only have 1 stitch! We are very grateful to say that our entire birth experience was very positive. My husband and I would like to thank you for the wealth of information you provided us with. We knew exactly what questions to ask and how to advocate for ourselves and that wouldn't have been the case without your class. Thank you so much again 🥰
If you're not taking my childbirth class, what are you even doing with your life??

"This class was far beyond any expectations that I ever had! I was honestly clueless about labor, induction, etc. Being two full time working soon to be parents, it's hard to read a book with a bunch of important and not so important information. I believe that this class discussed the most pertinent information needed to know for labor! I would 100% recommended this class! Tara was extremely knowledgeable and made something that might seem scary and unknown, not so scary! Although, I feel like pregnancy, labor and/or parenting is something no one is 100% prepared for, I feel pretty prepared for labor!"
~Christina, first time mom
I just saw this stat and looked it up to see if it was true. I've always been aware Doulas improve outcomes and lower intervention rates, but this is wild.
The Cesarean rate with an induction of labor is 58.8% WITHOUT a Doula. But WITH a Doula, that rate drops to 12.5%!
In Erie County hospitals, induction rates range between 31.4% and 39.6% (not including augmented labors). Our Cesarean rates range between 30.6% and 42.1%.

This being the first Christmas without my mother, I am off call the entire month. This includes as a backup. I pray you all have a joy filled holiday season, and I'll see you in January! Watch for my Year in Review post, coming later!
What makes a birth perfect? Is there such a thing as a “perfect” birth? One of the first lessons of parenthood is often that no matter what expectations you bring into a situation, you’re almost always going to be thrown a curve ball somewhere along the line. For many mothers, this lesson is learned during labor. What ma...
This is how I spent the day, a week ago today. Welcoming 2 sweet baby boys into the world! Back to back births, and by the grace of God, caught a nap in between! (A little extra makeup for birth #2 since she hired a photographer! 😂)
"Tara is an amazing woman! I’ve done tons of research online, watched videos, and read many pregnancy books-yet she still managed to teach me new things every class! I highly recommend this class to any expecting parents! One of the best parts was her presentation of the information in a way that was engaging and informative for my spouse. Having my support person aware of all the things she taught us makes the class worth every penny alone (because let’s be real, most pregnancy books didn’t exactly catch his attention). I’m a second time mom with a medical background and think everyone could benefit from the knowledge and experience Tara offers!"
